Canterbury : 2 seriously injured , 100 total injured, ZERO DEATHS
Haiti : 6th deadliest earthquake , 92-230k dead. 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings had collapsed or were severely damaged.
The town of Canterbury has only about 300k people, whereas Haiti's city has 1M.
Now, can somebody tell me why Haiti has buildings that collapsed? Did government stop them from building safer structures? Was New Zealand's buildings the result of a free market?
