"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs?

Seriously, who?

Because we're looking for those people. We're looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn't be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it's appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles.

Are you one of those people? Excellent. Then we'd like you to join us in Washington, DC on October 30 -- a date of no significance whatsoever -- at the Daily Show's "Rally to Restore Sanity." Ours is a rally for the people who've been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) -- not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence... we couldn't. That's sort of the point.

Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we'll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila. Join us in the shadow of the Washington Monument. And bring your indoor voice. Or don't. If you'd rather stay home, go to work, or drive your kids to soccer practice... Actually, please come anyway. Ask the sitter if she can stay a few extra hours, just this once. We'll make it worth your while.

Watch Jon's call-to-reasonableness on The Daily Show (http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-september-16-2010/rally-to-restore-sanity).

Keep checking back for updates and rally information.

It is funny though when Bush was in charge Jon Stewart wasn't mocking anti-war activists in this manner.

I didn't see it as mocking anti-war activists. I got that it was a satire of The various rallies and marches that special interests do (such as the Rally for the Republic, Beck's silly rally, and so forth). JMHO

Jon Stewart appeals largely to the apathetic. Those that might be annoyed with the stupidity of DC, but cannot be bothered to do something about it. The stuff about rallying people who "find shouting annoying" is basically "shame on you for protesting". People are protesting in the streets because they are pissed off. Granted, there is an apparent disarray because many different people are pissed off about many different things. But it's encouraging that so many people are taking to the streets.

Jon Stewart's response is a Rally to Restore Apathy. I'm not interested in it.

The Tea Party is anti-war?

Anyway - this is a protest against loud people being loud. It's a protest to restore debate. It isn't angry, it's mildly annoyed. It's an attempt to bring the silent majority to the forefront of political discourse and tell politicians we don't want them to be dramatizing everything.

We don't want theatrics - we want debate.

And in debate - principled, reasoned libertarianism and conservatism will always win - I believe this because I believe we are right, coherent, and in the mainstream, thanks in large part to Dr. Paul. Thank you, Ron Paul.

Uhh no. I was saying Jon Stewart didn't mock Code Pink and the extreme anti-war activists during the Bush Administration the way he is mocking the modern day Tea Party. But that was when a Republican was in power so the dissent was justified I suppose. The purpose of the "Rally for Sanity" is to rally against extremism. Well when America was throwing out Republicans left & right in 2004 I didn't hear Lebowitz refer to this as "extreme."
