Glen Beck's site "The Blaze" reports the following:

O‘Donnell ’99 Admission: ‘I Dabbled Into Witchcraft’

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/odonnell-99-admission-i-dabbled-into-witchcraft/

You knew it was going to go this way. Everyday we‘re going to be blessed with a new video clip of Christine O’Donnell saying something wild back when. But even with the expectation, this one is certainly something of a Saturday surprise! Witchcraft?

Many of the clips we’ve seen, are seeing and will be seeing soon I’m sure, come from her 22 appearances on the ABC program “Politically Incorrect.”

While she makes it clear that she “never joined a coven,“ she admits that she ”dabbled,” dated a witch, (This is where I got the lesbianism idea from. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't "witch" a female gender specific term? - AF) and even “went on a midnight date involving blood on an altar.”

“We went to a movie and had a little midnight picnic.”

A friend asks — was this more a case of hanging out with weirdos than actual dabbling in witchcraft?

Now as Sinatra might say — I’ve got no defense for it! Or I’m just bothered and bewildered. But the truth is O’Donnell has been pretty open about her path in life on the religious convictions front. She told the Fox station in Philadelphia, “I assure you, my faith has matured.”

We all know that the “Politically Incorrect” host Bill Maher has gone on to host his own show on HBO. And he‘s now vowing to keep showing additional clips until O’Donnell agrees to appear on “Real Time:”

“I’m just saying, Christine, it’s like a hostage crisis,” he said, “every week you don’t show up, I’m going to throw another body out.”

Think Progress does point out that Maher seems to be doing this good-naturedly:

Last night, Real Time aired its first show of the current season. Maher began by mocking O’Donnell, calling her “an uemployed, anti-masturbation activist and a close friend of mine.” “I created her,” Maher told the audience, turning to the camera and stating, “You owe me Christine O’Donnell.” Maher said that he has great fondness for O’Donnell, adding, “She does not have a mean bone in her body, or any other bone in her body.”

The Washington Post notes:

In other O’Donnell news that may or may not be related, Bob Schieffer tweeted on Saturday that the candidate has pulled out of a scheduled appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday. She is still scheduled to appear on “Fox News Sunday” at 9 a.m. ET.

I understand her sister is a lesbian (ex 'reformed gay') wiccan. So the details might be family related rather than anything she sought out. But it's weird. Just not really relevant, unless you think she is going to try to impose that in the Senate... and that she'd win enough votes to do so.

A witch does mean a female. But most neo-pagans/wicca types don't discriminate on gender. So there can be male witches I believe.

So? People change their ways when they admit to being wrong. I will not get on someone's case because of what they used to do. I used to be pro-war. Now I am anti-war because I realized I was wrong. I used to hate, I mean really hate, Calvinists; now, I am a Calvinist.

I seriously doubt by witch she meant a female.
In Wicca anyway I've heard witch refer to either sex.

Heck I read some crud on Wicca several years ago, not a big deal. Although I never went on a date with a wiccan.

The question, though, is did she intend it that way?

I kind of doubt it. "Witch" is the most common term. She might not have thought to say "warlock" or "wizard" or whatever the male equivalent is supposed to be. I kind of doubt she meant to imply that she was a lesbian, or the issue would have come up by now.

Peeve alert: people do not possess the character of "gender". Only nouns have that. People possess "sex". The proper question is whether the term is sex-specific.

Yes, I know it's off topic, but improper use of language really annoys me.

And your peeve set off my peeve, ha!

Although usage of "sex" and "gender" among the average people is interchangeable, human sexuality experts make specific distinctions to facilitate languange that can honestly describe the differences among people:

Sex: genetic characteristic, with the Y gene being a determining characteristic. There are two main sexes, male (XY), female (XX), and more than 10% of the population that possess a variation (XXX, XYY, XYXY, etc.) these are collectively referred to as "intersex" and include "hermaphrodites" however the nature of hermaphroditism is misunderstood by most people.

Gender: Psychological identity characteristic, most males by sex are also male by gender, most females by sex are female by gender, but a portion of the population are either reversed or "androgynous". The "tomboy" female or the "girlie" or "dainty" male are examples. They may be sexually one sex, and be heterosexual, yet still psychologically identify as the opposite sex. This is also why many crossdressing men are heterosexual.

Sexuality: The psychological sexual desire, genetic in origin, most people are heterosexual. There are a multitude of other sexualities, primarily homosexuality and asexuality.

Any person may possess any one characteristic from each of these categories. Which helps define why some heterosexuals act like the opposite sex, or why some homosexuals are gender charcteristically opposite their own sex. This helps define why an intersex person might look and act wholly male or female, and might not even know they are intersex.

Serious scientific research into human sexuality didn't really begin until the 1960s. Most people have no idea about the advances in understanding human sexes, and often people still refer to Frued who has been shown to be wrong in every study that challenged his medical assumptions. I personally think it's important people learn things aren't so black and white, because this perpetuation of the old beliefs facilitates ignorance and discriminatory treament of those who don't fit the paradigms. As far as society is concerned there are only 3 categories: manly man who is desperate to have sex with all women, girlie girl who needs men to do everything and get them pregnant, and then there are freaks.

That's true, but not so much in the English language, which no longer uses a true case system as Middle and Old English did.

Guys can be witches. I think half of Wicca is insightful and another half is hocus pocus, but that could be said for Christianity too.

O'Donnell reminds me of chicks who experimented with lifestyle and being free-minded with spirituality & sexuality, then got scared & came roaring back the other way, to where she's staunchly against all sexual expression except missionary child conception by purebred un-shaven straight married couples over 25 w/ a bible held between their faces. Pity her, but honestly I don't really care as long as she keeps it out of her politics.

For me, it's an exercise in cognitive dissonance as I am supportive of Carl Paladino for Governor of NY from the pragmatic standpoint that he is going to cause a great deal of problems in Albany.

Usually I get down on these politicians after reading too much high-brow intellectual conservative caviar from publications like The American Conservative instead of listening to hackery talk-radio or reading RedState/HotAir/whatever.

There's nobody in NH stirring a ruckus, pretty run of the mill choices, and even the Snowe/Collins clone Kelly Ayotte will more than likely lose to Paul Hodes, due to the flood of Massholes downstate.

Guinta in the district 1 race is nothing too special.

She's a Limited Constitutional Government Conservative. She's not as good on the Liberty issues as Rand, Angle, Lee - they get 20/20 on the CFL. She's 17/20.
She is by no means a Liberal, or a RINO or whatever you'd call Scott Brown. She's a teaparty candidate, she'll vote with DeMint. But, as with all these new candidates, there's really no way to know for sure. It would be cool if things changed so that there were something to 7 or something to 10 votes, like how Ron Paul is often the 1.

Just stumbled on this thread....
The first blatent error I see is "Glen Beck's news site". Since when is anything out of that douchbag's mouth considered News? But that's a bit off the topic that I want to address.
I've been a Pagan for well over 25 years.
Wiccan's do not believe in Satan. Satan is a Christian deity.
If she was dating a Wiccan and the guy had a Satanic alter like she says, then she wasn't dating a Wiccan.

"I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do," O'Donnell told Maher.
"One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it. I mean, there's little blood there and stuff like that," she said. "We went to a movie and then had a little midnight picnic on a satanic altar."

Wiccans also don't use blood in any of their rituals that I am aware of.
I personally think she's just a nut bag, and a great opportunity for a 3rd party candidate to make some headway in that race. Hopefully the CP or LP is running a decent candidate.

Anyways, thanks to this bitch, I get to listen to all those old stereotypes about paganism and witches all over again. All the false associations about Wicca and Satanism and all this other BS on every talk show.
Bob Barr's stance on freedom of religion (he fought to ban Wiccan ceremonies on military bases) drove me from the Libertarian Party. I hope the Ron Paul crowd does not start to show the same religious intolerance here.

So, you're saying that is turning off a segment of the witch community?
Do you think that witches are a significant voting block in Delaware?
I think they understand that they might be turning off a segment of the witch community with this one, and were hoping they'd pick up the non-witch vote.
I haven't seen too many polls on the witch vote in other states to make any generalizations about it. There hasn't been a lot of polling in this race. I do think they might start polling a lot more. Typically, witches would be considered "other" with the crosstabs, so it's hard to determine what percentage of witches are in "other". I heard that True Blood was actually based on a true story. So, there could be the vampire vote to consider. It gets complicated with these things. Anyway, I'm confident that she picked up more votes than she lost with this whole witch thing. The witchcraft thing made her more relatable. Humanized her. People will be filling out a very complete picture of her, and it's going to be a very likeable complete picture. The nooks and crannys I think are really appealing.

Most people running for senate have resumes that look like: spent my life grabbing for power, grabbing for money, grabbing. It's acceptable. Wasn't Christine able to grab enough money to pay these tiny bills? They measure in how much you grab of anything. Oh, you have a large stack of whatever it is. You are therefore the best.

Basically, Christine has been on TV, bitching about how disgusting everything is. Which is actually true. Really really true. There's gotta be a way to do something about this. How about not rewarding, um, problematic conduct with valuable cash and prizes? What she did is much better than the grabbing people.

I've been a Pagan for well over 25 years.
Wiccan's do not believe in Satan. Satan is a Christian deity.
If she was dating a Wiccan and the guy had a Satanic alter like she says, then she wasn't dating a Wiccan.

Witch! Witch!

Burn the witch!

The O'Donnell campaign is certainly entertaining, if nothing else.

She might be the craziest person to make a serious run for political office since David Duke in the early '90s.

So let me get this right. O'Donnell dabbles in witchcraft, but condemns masturbators?

Yeah, she's rational...

Didn't Glenn Beck dabble with the bottle at one point? ;) Rockwell, YOU'RE PARTLY WRONG about Glenn Beck as he's more than a socialist, he's a hypocrite and phony as well.
