AP calls it for O'Donnell, another Palin win

Palin's endorsee is losing in NH and Demint's is winning, but only 12% of the votes have been counted.

I'd definetley be more influence by a demint endorsement than Palin

The cult of Palin strikes again. I live maybe 5 minutes from the DE line and am there all the time as I have many friends over the border and plus they offer tax free shopping. I can tell you from first hand knowledge that this woman literally came out of nowhere to win this thing and the influence that Palin has is really scary.

Honestly all this dimissing her might actually piss people off enough for them to not vote for Coons, plus it'd kill democrat turnout since they'll feel it's a sealed deal

Oldskool // Sep 14, 2010 at 7:14 pm (http://www.frumforum.com/why-castle-will-win#comment-156728) Being a bad predictor, I only hope for outcomes and my hope is that the ‘baggers win all the primaries. I would even be fine if they win in November. A big dose of getting-what-you-hoped-for would be an eye opener once their candidates turn into ordinary deal-making politicians.

Not that I care so much for many of the offerings presented us by the Tea Party, but what happens to people like this guy in the comments if the tea partiers win and manage to stick to principles? :D

O'Donnell says masturbation is the same as adultery

O'Donnell, who is backed by the Tea Party Express, is running in next week's Delaware Senate primary against Rep. Mike Castle. Castle, a former governor, has been winning elections in Delaware by large margins since 1966, and in any normal year his victory would be assured. But this year, nothing can be taken for granted.

O'Donnell's views appear to be particularly extreme, even by Tea Party standards. In 1998, she told an MTV interviewer that masturbation is the same as adultery because "the Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery. So you can't masturbate without lust."

In an article written about the same time, the fiercely Catholic O'Donnell declared, "When a married person uses pornography, or is unfaithful, it compromises not just his (or her) purity, but also compromises the spouse's purity. As a church, we need to teach a higher standard than abstinence."

Someone who thinks masturbation is adultery is better than someone who wants to send you to jail if you don't buy health insurance.

They are very different. If you think masturbation is adultery, you're not sending innocent people to jail. She never said she wanted people who masturbate in jail, unlike the Democrats who want to make it illegal to no buy health insurance. If you think they're the same, you're no liberty fan, but an obvious statist troll.

Ron Paul could challenge John Cornyn in 2014 for his Texas seat.

That would be awesome. Of course a presidential run would be better but I would be awesome to defeat Cornyn.

Sorry I'm not a troll last time I checked. But I don't trust someone who thinks jacking off is the same as adultery to write our laws. Call me crazy but I do see that as a red flag.

I'm more concerned with whether she thinks bombing villages in 3rd world countries is murder. If she is fine with that, but is preachy on something as harmless as masturbation, than she is a moral hypocrite that can't be trusted to do the right thing.

So that's a red flag. On the other hand, you have a guarantee that someone wants to send innocent people to jail (for not buying a product!). Which is worse, a red flag or a guarantee of evil? Why have you expressed no concern about the Democrat's positions, which are much worse?

Because we're talking about O'Donnell right? I think sending people to jail for not having health insurance is wrong, immoral and unconstitutional. And just another example of big government taking over our lives and liberty. I also see a cause for concern when someone thinks that masturbation is no different than adultery in charge of writing laws. I also am concerned with her insane lawsuit for 7 million dollars for emotional distress because she was demoted at her job. And I'm quite concrened with her foreign policy and war views as well. Red flags all over the place.

Don't forget she her self is fiscally irresponsible, has been in debt for years. Hasn't paid back her debts from her 2008 run against Biden. And she is not even married, yet is preaching "family values".

I agree that she is bad on foreign policy. But her position on masturbation is not anywhere close as important as foreign policy, and the masturbation position by itself does not make her as bad as the Democrat, which is what you suggested.

I agree as well that her foreign policy is far worse. I was just only pointing out that there is many flaws with this women. Not just the masturbation issue. But her own fiscal history as Humanae Libertas pointed out. And let's not forget that lawsuit she filed. I see her as another RINO in the making.

It's an indication that she has an "in" with the Christian right. The main thing that kept me OUT of the Republican party was all their cozy alliances with the Ralph Reed / Jerry Falwell / Pat Robertson axis. It may not prove anything but it should make Liberty leaning voters nervous.

Strategy to bring troops home from Iraq:

it’s called victory Most importantly, Christine has a strategy for bringing our troops home from Iraq: It’s called victory. Past mistakes should not deter our need to stabilize Iraq so we can get our troops home. We can succeed in the future, but we must accompany our efforts with the honor and respect we’ve earned as a people. We cannot leave on the enemy’s terms. We must leave on our terms.

Consider military action against Iran

The three Republican candidates agreed that Iran, which Western governments fear is intent on developing nuclear weapons and which has close ties to Shiite leaders in Iraq, has benefited from the war in Iraq. Ms. O’Donnell was the only candidate, however, to assert that the U.S. should consider military action against Iran. “You can’t negotiate with the devil,” said Ms. O’Donnell, who also asserted that China has a “carefully thought out and strategic plan to take over America.”

Stay in Iraq until its government is stable

All three [Republican Senate primary candidates] brandish conservative credentials. They agree taxes should not be raised. They think U.S. troops should stay in Iraq until its government is stable. And all have pledged not to serve more than two six-year terms.

To be honest, O'Donnell's foreign policy positions do really bother me, but I will say that it is important for anti-establishment types to win electoral victories - no matter how wacko they are - just to demonstrate to the electorate that it can be done. Our fight will not be over with a single election, or even three or four. If O'Donnell can be voted in, she can be voted out.

Some may disagree with me, but the truth it that this year on the Federal level it's more important for anti-establishment people to win and logjam Congress than anything else. In two years, the number of liberty candidates will triple. In four years we will probably have nine times as many liberty candidates as we do today. That is, IF we keep at it and keep on pushing.

Did you get that Ron Paul video today, the one that said "Our time is now?" I believe it. In races where we do not have any sort of liberty candidate running yet, I am all for the anti-establishment wacko winning. It clears the board and gives one of our own people a better chance in 2012...

It's a tricky strategy that could easily backfire. And open the flood gates to more wackos getting into power. I think it's the neo-cons that will win. Because no matter who get's elected the wars will continue and expand.

I could *easily* see this woman being one of those "We've got to support the President" types if she is elected and US troops are involved in some expedition.

I'd like to be proven wrong. But there is just something Reality TV about her, that makes me cringe. I can take Sharron Angle more seriously, she was a legislator at least.

The only thing that really sucks is that this is the US Senate and whoever wins will be there for 6 years, but the bottom line is that this one person all by herself (especially if the entire NRSC will be working against her) isn't going to have that much of an impact except as another piece of logjam.

We did not field a candidate in this race, and to be frank, every other candidate except for our people is pretty much the same. Radical progressives to radical neocons, they all sing the same corporatist establishment tune. I don't see much different coming from O'Connell, the Dem, or the Rep she just beat. All things being equal such as they are, I'd rather rock the boat a little bit right now.

Worry more about this seat when we actually have a dog in the fight. Beyond that it's uplifting to see anti-establishment candidates gaining headway -- it spells future victories for our own people when we have enough manpower to field a race for this seat.

I wonder if the LP or the CP will be fielding a candidate for this seat....that could be interesting....

However, a top Republican official told CNN on Tuesday night that O'Donnell will have to show she can generate viable support before the national party will give her money.
"It is now incumbent on Sarah Palin, (U.S. Sen.) Jim DeMint and the Tea Party Express to help support her," the official said on condition of not being identified by name. "They got her here. Now make it happen."
