Financial transaction taxes are nothing new, especially in foreign countries.

And they may be part of our American way of life soon.

Here is a 1% financial transaction tax that is being presented.

And, although the VAT seems to be on the back burner for now. The politicians may be waiting until after Nov elections before it or the 1% transaction tax is revived.

Can you imagine paying 6% to 9 % state sales tax....a national 10% VAT Tax and a1% financial transaction tax?

Here is a list of some of the taxes we already pay...

After the Nov elections, if they're not talking about cutting the budget in half, there will be more to worry about than some VAT.

you are already paying 4-7% when you use a credit/debit card. that is what banks charge their merchants.

Sounds good to me... it's a fast track to get people to stop using dollars.
If 25% or more of the population decides to start transacting with something else, there's nothing that can be done about it.
It'll be another war on drugs. They'll waste insane amounts of resources squeezing a balloon.
And the more of these programs they undertake, the less likely it will be that people will just sit still for it.

At this point, whatever crashes the system is ok by me.

If it is good for us..the gov will outlaw it.
