seems everything thats on mentions hard times. I don't remember this happening in the 80s, when unemployment was higher.

Just the opposite I think. But then I don't watch TV. I do listen to radio some.
I believe that both are pacifying the public. Things are getting worse and they will get much worse.

It seems that the majority of folks are mindlessly accepting what Washington DC is doing.

Last speech I heard from Zerobama, he was saying that the recovery was happening much slower than people would like, or some other nonsense like that.
That's what's getting disseminated by TV, from what I can tell: the recovery is slow.

When they start toying with the idea that a recovery isn't happening at all, then they'll be closer to the truth.
