Despite campaign promises to the contrary, the Department of Justice under President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder hasn’t stopped raiding marijuana dispensaries operating in states where sale of the drug is legal for medical purposes. But the DOJ has demonstrated one marked change now that it’s under Democratic control: The department has stopped publicizing medical marijuana raids, both by requesting that more cases be sealed under court order and by refusing to distribute press releases.

Late last week, DEA and FBI agents raided five medical marijuana dispensaries in Nevada. In July, DEA agents raided the home of 65-year-old Mendocino County, California, grower Joy Greenfield and confiscated plants, money, and her computer. Also in July, DEA agents raided the home of a couple in Michigan who were licensed by the state to use marijuana, as well as three medical marijuana dispensaries in San Diego. In January and February of this year, the DEA raided two medical marijuana research labs in Colorado.

In all of the above cases, the DEA and the U.S. Attorneys’ offices issued no press releases and held no press conferences. The websites for DEA and the U.S. Attorneys’ offices in Detroit, Denver, Northern California, and Los Angeles (which also handles cases in Nevada) make no mention of the above dispensary raids, but do feature news releases for raids, arrests, and investigations involving harder drugs, as well marijuana trafficking, which is illegal in all states.

That was my thought...god knows the states don't have the testicular fortitude to protect it's citizens from the Fed gov.

The States are too busy running around bashing things with the budget austerity bat. Considering that George Soros was probably the largest organizer for campaign finance for 'bama, I wouldn't be suprised if its more of a consolidation operation...along with price manipulation/control. Obviously for the benefit of the few, which is where cali public policy is headed anyway, regarding marijuana.

I highly doubt you'll see the massive 'corporate' marijuana growers getting raided while at the same time lobbying the Cali gov't to reform the law to put the market right in their hands...not to mention the mexican imports which will always undermine the 'national productivity' of marijuana...which is hilarious that even protectionist policies apply to even drug production/consumption or it fails.

Essentially the whole marijuana thing in Cali was a ball faced lie, a foot in the door for trafficking it from Mexico more than ever, while smashing domestic production/revenue...used to condone the public policy shift...along with stupid, stupid, medicinal arguments used to wield the public policy outcome.

Most of the high-concentrate THC products are made with extracts from imported marijuana, and not domestically produced marijuana...due to a huge price gap. What Obama has essentially done is stopped the assault(in terms of federal money) on the trafficking from Mexico to the USA. This encourages the various agencies to go after otherwise 'normal' non-cartel producers in the states for the sole purpose of financing the agency and to get paid with the liquidity of what they 'seize,' and even the revenue from that is collapsing. The fact that Ron Paul is arguing for the legalization for the purpose to crunch artificual deficit numbers...leads me to believe he is far more delusional than before...and a sellout to his own "its your body" principle.

All obama did was open the door to cartels from mexico...while saying "fuck you" to the dude who grows in his house/backyard for a 2nd income or w/e. Which is exactly what he was told to do.

excerpts:Yeah, It's robbery... DEA needs to justify it's existence somehow and also it needs to show it makes money! What better way than to keep your racket going, by stating you took Drug money away from Terrorists.

The whole system is corrupt, tyrants authorized to steal and rob off the people. Frankly, if you oppose drugs legalization, at least you have to say stop to theft, robbery, destruction, and violation of our Constitutional Rights by this thug group. Again, who are the real Terrorists and Terrorism on the American people, business, and savings?

On Tuesday March 15, officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) raided two medical marijuana dispensaries – Alternative Herbal Health Services and Zen Healing – in West Hollywood, California. The raids were the first to take place in the city since the Obama administration reversed federal policy targeting marijuana dispensaries that complied with state laws.

The day before, DEA raids also swept through Montana, forcing at least one business, Montana Cannabis, to close its doors. One marijuana advocate called the action a “blatant, obvious, calculated, bullying interference by the federal government.”

and
Chris Goldstein, founder of Freedom Is Green, and a leader in reforming state laws on the East Coast for medical marijuana, called the DEA raids, “state-sanctioned robbery.”

“The important thing here is they never arrest anybody,” Goldstein told TheDC. “They go in, take the money and the marijuana, and that’s it. It’s essentially a robbery…but where does the money go?” He went on to say that during raids, the DEA isn’t doing any real enforcement, just “stealing product and cash.”
