How to capitalize on Rand's victory and get that support behind Ron?

(Yes I know Rand hasn't won yet but let's assume he does since he most likely will win)

I commented over in Rand's forum about this and it got me wondering enough about Ron's 2012 chances to start a new thread.

There seems to be a good chunk of Republicans that are commenting on and supporting Rand yet still look at Ron like he's a leper. Here's an example comment about Rand from a Hotair article about Rand's 15 point lead and it's not the only one like it.



Good – I really like him. Think his Dad has a few screws loose but I like him.

We know father and son are not very different idealogically and Rand has had to step lightly since he's campaigning for GOP voters. But at the end of the day they are nearly the same in Constitutional philosophy. So where is the disconnect that creates comments like that one and how can we use Rand's victory to Ron's advantage to get people like that to see how supporting one is really supporting the other? Or is it a lost cause? Did the 2008 media smear job on Ron poison the well for him regardless of what he says or does? Thoughts please.

Rand hasn't won yet and Ron hasn't even announced yet. Before we count our chickens let's focus on getting Rand elected. Then we'll start focusing on using that momentum for greater good.

The biggest mistake people make (and I've seen this in sports, business, and politics) is focus on the next goal before the current goal is accomplished. It frequently ends poorly. No one should take Rand's victory for granted by any means, there is a long time between now and November.

To capitalize best, Rand would have to go for the throat of anyone who criticized Ron, pointing out their liberal track record. This would set the precedent that you weren't going to creep by unscathed if you went after Ron.

Point taken however I put that disclaimer clearly in the first sentence and this is the Ron Paul 2012 subforum, right? Not all that crazy to be talking about....oh I dunno....Ron Paul's potential 2012 campaign! And how a Rand victory can help with leverage.

I like the idea of Rand making a concerted effort to plug Ron during the media attention of his election victory speech. Now what kinds of things can we do as grassroots? Contrary to what BT says, NOW is the time to be thinking about these sorts of things.

I'm not going to bet against it because A. I want him to win and B. I think he will.

I just don't like taking things for granted. Partly for strategy and partly because I'm superstitious. I don't like assuming a win until it's over, I have seen too much bad shit happen.

We will have so much clout when Rand stomps his democrat opponent into dust.

Rand is a rising star in the GOP now.

Ron did terrible in Kentucky in 2008, I think we got a shot at winning the state with a Rand win.
