RP hasn't won there, but we should have a good showing. Didn't he come in third last time even thought he wasn't there? I suspect they know what will happen to the poll if he speaks.

Control Spending"

Wut?

Whenever I read "values voters", I think "coercion".

I think this is where Christians (I am one) go wrong today. They think Christianity must be enforced by coercion.

I got to wonder, where in the Bible does it tell people to "strengthen the military?"

"strengthen the military?"

Maybe it's a terrorist convention. Just kidding.

If I lived in Iowa I would definitely go to vote for Ron Paul in the straw poll.

He has always struggled at VV.

He did come in third in the Overall straw poll that you could enter by paying one dollar online. Only 25 Ron Paul supporters actually voted in person. Not surprising I guess..

Yeah, Ron should just stay away.

If everyone else goes, then Ron gets all the value-voters haters... while the "value (er neocon) votes" get split like 7 ways.

Yeah, I hear you man.

When you read the New Testament, you see Paul doing his best to not be executed by Rome. You see him just wanting Christians to just be left alone by the State. You see the New Testament saying time and time again that individual change (and therefore societal change) comes by spiritual conversion, not State force.

I don't understand what insanity has gripped Christians' minds that make them immediately think that the moral commands of Jesus are to be legislated by the State instead of followed personally.

*sighs*

Let's face it. Ron Paul is not welcome in the Republican Party. And anyone who advocates principles of liberty the way he does will likely get the same treatment.

I'm slowly beginning to see the merit of Ron running Indy in 2012 if he doesn't get the party's nomination...

Oh the Irony of 3/4s of those clowns don't have any value... what-so-ever.

What a farce, the one political person with the utmost integrity, honesty, and values, should be the chairman of this organization, is not the poster child pf values, at this event.

I truly don't know how Ron does it? The rest of that list of so-called values attendees, Gesus, if you shake their hands, you would have to take a 2 hour shower to rid the filth and dirt..

Tinseltown is full of FONYs, but this "Values List", takes the cake!

Yes, but that is dodging the question. Yes or no, does RP believe gay marriage should be allowed or not? Him personally, not from a federal standpoint.

He thinks government shouldn't be involved in marriage at all, churches and other religious organizations should determine the sacraments of their bodies. Some recognize gay marriage, some do not. Govt should treat all people the same. But as things stand, he thinks it is not a federal issue.

And since Ben Stein is there, I'd expect a steel cage match between him and RP if RP was invited.

Mormons tend to be very conservative and support family values.

Mormons tend to be very conservative and support family values.

But they're not evangelical Christians and it was one of the biggest strikes against Romney with evangelicals in 2008.

And what exactly are "family values", anyway? Seems to me to be the passing down of religious based intolerance.

Explain your reasoning.

well they are the ones that value war, expansive government and telling folks what they can do in their own living rooms! It is my experience with many value voters in colorado and around the country. They are the very ones that want to regulate freedom, liberty and personal choices and decide what others can and cannot do in the name of jesus christ(or whoever they decide is their Saviour) and their own religion! not everyone of them but a good portion are the problem not the solution!!

They(not all but many) choose regulation over freedom!! some of the most Nazi republicans that i have met have been value voters!!

FrankRep

well they are the ones that value war, expansive government

Blame the Progressive Movement for that like Woodrow Wilson and FDR.

and telling folks what they can do in their own living rooms!

Robert L. Doughton, a Democrat, introduced the "Marihuana Tax Act of 1937" that lead to the banning of Marijuana.

They are the very ones that want to regulate freedom, liberty and personal choices and decide what others can and cannot do in the name of jesus christ and their own religion! not everyone of them but a good portion are the problem not the solution!!

Need Examples.

They(not all but many) choose regulation over freedom!! some of the most nazi republicans that i have met have been value voters!!

The Nazis were Socialists and traditional Republicans tend to reject Socialism. What kind of regulations are you referring to?

examples for you above just put value voters who endorse everything you just cited and there are plenty!! you just proved my examples by listing folks that value voters endorse by their platform and reasoning! value voters love the marijuana tax act!! in most cases value voters love nazi ideas , bush 2 terms would be a great example!! you need examples? really? if i have to give you examples then you are not paying attention to what value voters have done in many states on many issues!! really examples?? try most of the marijuana laws in the name of safety for kids and arresting marijuana users! most of the insane marijuana laws were brought to you by so called value voters in the name of their religion and so-called values!!

Wait, we can actually pay just $1 and be able to cast a vote online? If the online votes factor into the overall results, and if they're doing it the same way in 2010, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to win.
