Jim DeMint (R): 63%
Alvin Greene (D): 19%
Some other candidate: 8%
Not sure: 10%

At this rate he'll fall below "not sure" by October.

I guess the majority of people in south carolina like having a warmongering, chicken-hawk senator that doesn't care a thing about civil liberties.

You forgot to mention that he is also "G-d fearing".

At this point , I would be suprised if the Dems get enough voter turnout to get 19 percent in South Carolina.

cause they don't want to vote for a man with downs syndrome or at the very least Aspergers Disorder?

Demint isn't perfect by any means, but he is still the best current Senator.

Greene doesn't sound very liberty-loving to me. Why do some of you guys support him? DeMint isn't perfect, no one is, but he certainly is leaps and bounds above Greene, IMO.

Well, it has been argued that Herman Goering was "leaps and bounds" above Hitler.

It's probably the hope that an underfunded Liberty candidate will also pull off an "Alvin Greene" someday.

This kind of thing is not entirely unprecedented. I remember once in Fullerton CA, somebody got elected to school board without campaigning. All anybody knew about him was that he had been on public access TV a few years earlier doing a talk show at odd hours while wearing dark glasses.

It happened already in the same state: with Bob Conley in 2008. Sneaking through in a primary against an incumbent who everybody knows is going to win isn't that uncommon.
