I could go on a long rant about how the RCP senate chart seems designed specifically to confuse & frustrate someone who has not taken a class on reading it. But I would really just love to know how many election-day 2010 seats the GOP needs to win to take over the senate. If someone explained to me where some of the numbers come from (59 democrats? No, 48 democrats. Can we try for 37?) I would appreciate it but the main thing is the # of wins needed. Thanks in advance...

Seriously, not one out of 43 thread-viewers knows how many Senate races the GOP needs to win this fall to get to 51 seats?

37 elections.

GOP 23 seats not up. Need 28 wins.

12 locks
3 likely
6 lean

Which would be 21/28

Need to win 7 of the 8 toss ups.
