I think Ron Paul coming out on the mosque issue is one of the best things that he could have done for his 2012 campaign.
Already in the last 24hrs he has been on AC360, CNN American Morning, and his comments cited and featured multiple times on MSNBC.
I think this is the issue that has finally revealed Ron Paul to progressives and the Media. When the next 2012 cycle comes around, Ron Paul will be looked on favorably by the media. Not as closed minded. I think he will be the media's next (and I hate to say it) "John McCain". As much as I personally loathe McCain, the media had a fascination with him. He was the "good republican", a "maverick", "independent", and "out-side the box". Ron Paul is now officially that guy in the media's eyes. Just like McCain, they can't put him in a box, and the more the hear about him, the more they love him and respect him.
This will pay dividends if Ron Paul runs again. He won't be that nutty old guy, but rather a principled and authentic "good" conservative.
