Ron Paul speaks truth to hate

By Brent Budowsky - 08/24/10 10:16 AM ET

On this day, let’s give a standing ovation to Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) for speaking out against the sunshine patriots who play the politics of hate to play on the fear of terror.

If I were an all-out supporter of Ron Paul, I would nominate him for the Nobel Peace
Prize. Of course, as Paul has now said, those who spread the lie that it was all Muslims throughout the world who attacked America on that September morning are also those who seem to favor the most wars in the most places, usually so long as other Americans fight them.

Ron Paul's criticism of those who exploit the pain of the great terrorist attack to foment the latest form of the politics of hate is a profile in courage and is an example of patriotism of the highest order.

Most opponents of the Muslim center in New York are good people with genuine concerns who in many cases make valid points. Reasonable people can support or oppose this particular project in this particular place.

However, there are political exploiters, Newt Gingrich being one, a Republican politician in New York who Hillary Clinton obliterated when she ran against him for the Senate being another, who are playing the politics of hate.

Anyone who equates all Muslims with al Qaeda is playing the politics of hate using the weapons of bigotry and fear. Ron Paul is right when he attacks the "sunshine patriots" who wrap themselves around the flag of liberty when it is easy but exploit the politics of hate and fear when it is hard.

So, on this day, let’s give a standing ovation to Ron Paul, a true patriot, who speaks truth to hate.

If the Nobel Peace Prize were a genuine peace award Ron Paul would definitely deserve it. But the prize is pretty much a joke considering that Al Gore and Obama got it.

On the other hand, the only people who still take the prize seriously can't think for themselves anyway, so there probably isn't much of a downside to Ron Paul receiving the award.

perhaps his followers in Norway can get this man nominated. Jimmy Carter? Doctors w/o borders? Tutu? Dali Lama? Al Gore? just send them an updated copy of A Foreign Policy of Freedom: Peace, Commerce, and Honest Friendship

Nomination and selection

The Nobel Institute in Oslo, Norway. The Norwegian Parliament appoints the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which selects the laureate for the Peace Prize.

[edit] Nomination
Each year, the Norwegian Nobel Committee specifically invites qualified people to submit nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.[5] The statutes of the Nobel Foundation specify categories of individuals who are eligible to make nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.[6] These are;

Members of national assemblies and governments and members of the Inter-Parliamentary Union,
Members of the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the International Court of Justice at the Hague,
Members of Institut de Droit International,
University professors of history, political science, philosophy, law and theology, university presidents and directors of peace research and international affairs institutes,
Former recipients, including board members of organisations that have previously won the prize,
Present and past members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and
Former permanent advisers to the Norwegian Nobel Institute.

The 14th Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize laureates.Nominations must usually be submitted to the Committee by February 1 of the year in question. Nominations by committee members can be submitted up to the date of the first Committee meeting after this deadline.[6]

In 2009, a record 205 nominations were received.[7] The statutes of the Nobel Foundation do not allow information about nominations, considerations or investigations relating to awarding the prize to be made public for at least 50 years after a prize has been awarded.[8] Over time many individuals have become known as "Nobel Peace Prize Nominees", but this designation has no official standing.[9] Nominations from 1901 to 1956, however, have been released in a database.[10] When the past nominations were released it was discovered that Adolf Hitler was nominated in 1939 by Erik Brandt, a member of the Swedish parliament. Brandt never intended for this nomination to be seriously considered, and submitted it in protest to the nomination of Neville Chamberlain for the prize; Brandt retracted the nomination after a few days.[11] Other infamous nominees included Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini. However, since nomination requires only support from one qualified person, nominations do not necessarily represent the opinion of the Nobel committee itself.[12]

Unlike the other Nobel Prizes, which recognize completed scientific or literary accomplishment, the Nobel Peace Prize may be awarded to persons or organizations that are in the process of resolving a conflict or creating peace.

That should happen after he wins the presidency and ends all the wars.

The Nobel Prizes are highly politicaly motivated and very aligned with the NWO. An anti-UN man like RP doesnt stand a chance.

And the jury is composed by the scum-of-the-earth...scientists, poets, writers, politicians, painters, musicians, etc...Intellectuals, the most dangerous Humans on Earth.

I think Ron would make an excellent candidate. However, the prize has diminished in prestige in recent years as others have pointed out because it is politically motivated. The liberty movement should frankly organize its own peace awards.

This guy was elected in 06 with 57 % of the vote. Was unopposed in 08. Represents Rock Island , Quincey , Decatur and part of Springfield. If you know anyone who lives there , make sure they know the things this guy says.

I meant to put this on the congressman Phil Hare thread.
