When Liberty.com launches next month, it plans to be a one-stop shop for conservative activists who not only want news, but desire to become a part of the stories they’re reading.

“No one else is doing what we’re doing, which is combining news and activism,” said Yates Walker, a spokesman for the new site that plans to launch Sept. 1. “We’re not covering stories like the AP. We’re covering them from a conservative perspective and keeping our members vigilant and engaged.”

Walker said the website — whose mission statement includes keeping “the right honest, the press nervous and the left unpopular and out of power” — wants to rival the left’s MoveOn.org in terms of energizing activists.

“One of the ways in which MoveOn.org has been so effective is that they make an enemy…they point to some calamity and say, ‘this is what we need to do to fix it,’” he said. “And as wrong as they are, they move a lot of people. That’s exactly what we’re gonna do.”

The website will include daily blogcasts, as well as video webcasts
from its in-house broadcast studio in Las Vegas. A group of bloggers will provide exclusive content, and the site will aggregate news stories from other news organizations. As for original reporting, Walker’s connections with campaigns across the country will lead to tips. “We have ears everywhere,” he said.

the rest:

Liberty.com’s parent organization, Americans for New Leadership, has already purchased a $300,000 ad against Democratic Sen. Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, in Nevada. Reid is currently in the midst of heated re-election battle against Republican Sharron Angle. Walker noted that Angle was down seven points before the ad was released, and now the race has tightened. “We’re not taking complete credit for that, but it definitely played a part,” he said.

Walker says more than 88,000 activists are now part of their effort, and they hope to hit 100,000 members before the site’s September launch.

They linked to Levin today, a clip from his monolouge where he rails against "statists"

Here is my comment (ht to http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=258973):

am sorry to see you linking to this... statist. Quite ironic to listen to him rail about statism.

I notice that he is against the NEA; not the DoE? Hmmmm...

Has he ever come out against the money pit known as the Federal War on Drugs? or is his support for the 10th amendment as shallow as it sounds? How about the federalization of the police and the monster known as DHS?, has he come out against that form of government growth? Is he a fan of the Patriot Act, which shreds The US Constitution?

How about our Foreign Policy? IMO any self proclaimed conservative who does not address the costs of an interventionist foreign policy is not a conservative. I mean, look at where we intervened between 1953 and 1997 - Vietnam , Guatemala , Iran, Egypt , Lebanon , Iraq , Taiwan ( China) , Panama , Cuba , Germany (Berlin) , Laos , Panama , Indonesia , Dominican Republic , Cambodia , Oman , Chile , Angola , Libya , El Salvador , Grenada ( Cuba) , Bolivia , , Phillipines , Liberia , Iraq / Kuwait / Saudi Arabia , Somalia , Yugoslavia , Bosnia , Haiti , Zaire , Albania , Sudan . How has that worked out for us? Hell, even the CIA admits that our actions in the 50's against Iran are a source of much of the anger against us in the Arab world today. What's up with that? And how about the fact that we are subsiding European towns (with over 700 bases in like a 150 different countries.) How is that working out for us? Look at our economy and try to tell me with a straight face that we are strong. The debt with China, that we have chained around our children's neck, is a much bigger threat than any small bands of fanatics hiding in caves and basements...

The costs of an interventionist FP are astronomical, it is Wilsonian Progressive "Nation Building" (Which GWB dishonestly campaigned _against_ before continuing the same failed policy) It is destroying this nation both morally and economically, and clowns like this Levin guy are bringing "ignoring the elephant in the room" to a whole new level.

As far as Levin's call to get more involved, I applaud it. I just hope the newly awakened are kept aware that the statists have taken over both parties, that the propaganda runs deep, and to keep a post-partisan open mind while studying the issues and candidates.

Hopefully the definition of "liberty" in "liberty.com" isn't "liberty to destroy the constitution in the name of protecting those who hate us for our freedoms". Anyway, we need to be doing something like this.

Video on their front page.

YouTube - Organizing for a FREE America - Liberty.com (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5ggbwyCp-U)

"Our brave troopers go to war defending freedom..."

Yea... Either way, should be ripe for recruiting.

That YT vid needs to be edited, because there's a bunch of NEOCONs in it playing the Liberty Game.

BTM doesn't seem to be very "activism" focused. Neither is RPF for that matter. From BTM's website.

BreakTheMatrix.com shares liberty based news, events, commentary and more.

What's needed is a site that recognizes/rewards people for what they do as opposed to what they say. Johndennis2010.com has the right idea.

The site is well done. And the video from "Upload liberty" does help set the tone. That said this site does support the neocon war agenda. (Attacking Mike Castle for voting against the Iraq surge). Can we move the tone more to our favor? I don't know. I my join just to see what happens. But we need something like this ourselves.
