WASHINGTON -- Months before his own name will be on the ballot, U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint is doing well at the polls.

Nationwide, in the three U.S. Senate Republican primaries in which Palin and DeMint have both made endorsements, each has picked two winners - Rand Paul in Kentucky for both, Carly Fiorina in California for Palin and Rossi in Washington for DeMint.

DeMint's endorsement of Paul in Kentucky has embroiled the former marketing firm owner in controversy.
DeMint publicly backed Paul, a Bowling Green eye surgeon and the son of Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, on May 5 - a day after U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell endorsed Paul's GOP primary opponent, Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson.

DeMint's willingness to wade into a high-profile race in the home state of his party's Senate leader was widely seen as a slap in the face of McConnell.
DeMint's move sparked speculation that he is gunning for McConnell's Senate leadership post, which DeMint strongly refutes.
