I work for the government does that count?

My brother is in jail, does that count?

My sister is in the military, does that count?

I don't see anything wrong with taking them, but I don't actively try to take advantage of all I could.

I have no real problem with government or even government benefits, I only oppose federal benefits. But even then I'm not going to say it is wrong to take those either. Federal pell grants are something I'd recommend if you qualify.

I'm not currently taking any, but if I were, I'd feel dirty. Very, very dirty.

There should be no Fed tax money spent on education.

I used to draw checks, but almost immediately stopped when I became a libertarian. People are still trying to convince me to stay on the state teat, and God knows I could use it. I don't blame those who choose to do so in an effort to help the system along to its inevitable collapse; but I just can't bring myself to do it. It would feel way too hypocritical and sleazy for me to reap benefits from a government I don't even believe should exist.

I don't know how anyone can call social security a "benefit". The government takes a chunk of your salary, mal-invests it, then gives you a fraction of what you could have earned if you had invested it yourself.

I don't want to become dependent on something I can't give myself.

Yeah.

But I think if we "pay" into them we should get to use them while they exist. Better we use that money then them.
