On earlier threads, here

people expressed concerns about Pat's bonafides on smaller government and the defense empire.

I emailed him and here is his response.

Hi Larry:

You are correct I am very open to more education in any area especially the bureaucracy and corruption within the military, defense department and politicians.

Given the amount we spend in this area it has to be one of, if not the first area that needs to be fully exposed and completely modified. I can only imagine the depth of corruption that I'm sure exists.

30 million of the last defense budget was targeted for the Kennedy Library.

Barney Frank wants to cut defense but not the second engine for the f-35 joint strike fighter, (even the the military has said it's not needed), because that's his district.

No one is the perfect candidate but I can definitely do better than this.

My pledge of NO special interest money shows the sincerity of my desire to remain objective on all issues.
How many candidates across the country have made this pledge? I truly don't know but I'm certain not many have.

Thanks again for all your support! Pat

I really admire this man's humbleness and sincerity. It is a very rare trait to find in politicians these days, even ones that we agree with.

Having an indepedent congressman willing to examine defense budget waste fairly is something we could all benefit from.
