I was at the BMV today to renew my driver's license when I noticed several advertisements for something called "secure ID". I asked the lady at the desk about it, and she said it was a federal licensing program that will eventually take the place of the standard state issued IDs. It seems, this secure ID is to be used for entering federal buildings, airports....the usual suspects. Have any of you guys heard about this?

Indiana seems to be the only state that has a SecureID. Other states may have a REAL ID implementation with a different name though.
