View Full Version : Senate Could Pass Border Bill During Recess

While the House was briefly back in session on Tuesday, they passed a $600 million "border-security" bill by voice vote after limited debate. The question seems to be how the Senate will handle this. There are several options. One is to wait until they return from recess in September. Two is to "deem it passed" by unanimous consent (which would only require the presence of one senator from each party, according to Reid spokesman Jim Manley). Three, and probably the least likely option, is to force the return of senators for a vote. In order to pass it by unanimous consent, they would have to check in first with all 100 Senators, and they all have to agree to let it pass.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that anything passed via unanimous consent or decree or during the recess in general will be bad for the American public. I wonder whats in the bill...
