Hey thanks! If it helps, we are getting more donors than bumps on this thread... 5 since it was posted, and 2 prior. :D

I know it sounds funny, but my winning this one election will have serious consequences for the character of the NC State House. I am already building 10th Amendment coalitions with sitting members, and by winning the election it will REALLY shore those up. I expect a blizzard of 10th Amendment legislation to come from the NC House in 2011....

And 10th Amendment legislation is exactly what Rand and Ron will need to demonstrate pressure from the States and leverage the body around...

Not to mention that I am already writing a House-floor speech arguing for a GOP majority in the NC Legislature to redraw the voting districts FAIRLY instead of just trying to gerrymander them in favor of the Republicans rather than the Dems like we have been for the last 100 years...

And that will mean the difference on whether we can make Mel Watt vulnerable in 2012...

:D

:D

If you can get the North Carolina legislature to vote to secede from the union, I'll move there. :)

If you can get the North Carolina legislature to vote to secede from the union, I'll move there. :)

LMAO -- that would require a Constitutional Amendment:

Article 1: Declaration of Rights - Section 4: Secession prohibited

This State shall ever remain a member of the American Union; the people thereof are part of the American nation; there is no right on the part of this State to secede; and all attempts, from whatever source or upon whatever pretext, to dissolve this Union or to sever this Nation, shall be resisted with the whole power of the State.

but more important than Art. 1 Sec. 4 is Art. 1 Sec. 5:

Article 1: Declaration Of Rights - Section 5: Allegiance to the United States

Every citizen of this State owes paramount allegiance to the Constitution and government of the United States, and no law or ordinance of the State in contravention or subversion thereof can have any binding force.

The 10th Amendment bill I will be proposing will be in concert with a provision to repeal Art 1 Sec 5

I thought you just had to 'try your best' for 'over $200', but maybe I'm wrong.

Well, my campaign treasurer (Jacque on these forums) knows more about the particulars than I do, but I do know that you can do some aggregate collections. The problem is that my being a total grassroots candidate would mean that if we opened that door then the aggregates would be way higher (by percentage of total) than a "normal" campaign, and that would open me up to State and Federal audits and ethics charges.

Plus, I think the bottom for requiring best-efforts data collection in NC is $100, and if one person gives $50 twice, then they would fall into that category. I do NOT put it past the Dems in NC to put a ringer in to donate $30 four times and then point to that to bring ethics charges should I win.

So I am going for the "better safe than sorry" route. :o

Wow, I don't know what to say, guys. Really. :o

We've made crazy progress and couldn't have done it without you. It is only on account of you guys that a candidate with no real political background can compete, as we have been. Just like Justin Amash, once we build up a reputation over the next two years, this will be a lot easier to do locally.

My plan always was to serve 2 terms, or at most 3 terms here before bumping to US Congress, because there is a real need for 10th Amendment stuff to pressure the Congress in order to accomplish our agenda, and our Governor will likely veto the stuff that comes up 1st term but not the second, as she will be gone then.

We could never have done this without the Ron Paul 2008 movement getting started, and al of you guys coming together.

Seriously, thanks!

That is so awesome! I don't know how to thank you for this...

I will tell you that I saw a campaign shwag from some fella (let me look and see if I can find it, I saw it here on the forums....) it was a "clean house" kinda thing, a "pen" of hand sanitizer "vote so-and-so to clean house" or some such. I thought it was brilliant.

Oh well, can't find it, but I did find similar:

Just thought I'd help you with that fasting thingy you've got going on! :D

Friday's dinner: From scratch pizzas, baked in cast iron skillets and finished off under the broiler. Both have red sauce, onions, green and banana peppers, tomato, fresh basil leaves and lemon squash. The one on the left has pepperoni, the other doesn't. Both have the crust and the top dusted with Italian seasoning (homemade.) The only cheese is a little bit of fresh mozzarella, cut into 1/4" chunks and sprinkled on top.

Everything is from the garden except the sauce, onion, pepperoni, cheese and the dough. The dough recipe is from Mother Earth News: http://www.motherearthnews.com/Real-Food/Artisan-Bread-In-Five-Minutes-A-Day.aspx

We are planning a big fundraiser in Halifax County on Constitutional Day, September 17. As of now, I have not been able to get any local help. I need to secure a location and get the word out.

Anyone have any acquaintances in Roanoke Rapids and Halifax County?

We all know the opposition will come out with something after the results from the poll and we need locals in Halifax on our side.

Any information would be helpful.

Yes. I called, emailed and tried again to friend the chairman on facebook. Not getting any response. We have 1 month to make this work and I need to get started now.

I think their meeting in the 3rd Thursday of the month. I might just have to drive to Roanoke Rapids this week. If I am wrong about the date, that's a 2 hour drive for naught!

Here's the way I think we should see our role in Glen's campaign.

We shouldn't look at that 100k goal and think we have to carry that. We should provide the early money that gives his campaign the momentum (and perhaps staffing) it needs to establish itself so that local Republican donors see how serious of a candidate he is and how good his chances are of stealing a seat from the dems and get motivated to donate. A lot of those donations will be made in September and October. We can accomplish a lot if we just pile up a bunch of small donations now to get him over the 10k hump ASAP.

IMHO, the greatest hope for the future of liberty is in the collapse of the Federal government and the rise of the States - either through secession or a return to the original Constitutional compact. Either scenario depends on having patriots in position to influence events on the State level when the time comes. In light of this, I consider Gunny's effort to be of the highest importance.

I think our one real chance of restoring Constitutional government is to start at the state level and work up.

For anyone who is dismissing Gunny's run in North Carolina as being irrelevant because YOU happen to live in another state, consider this: Once Glen starts taking action in office and getting some stuff done, we (in each of our states) can start grabbing our state reps and saying, "Look! LOOK! See what Bradley's doing in North Carolina. If he can get it done there, we can do it here too!" Our state reps will have no excuse to blow us off we can demonstrate that other states are working to roll back Federal excess and are restoring Constitutional government.

It has to start somewhere, and I'm really hoping that starting point is going to be Glen Bradley in North Carolina.

This^

You can already see this happening with the States enacting laws nullifying Obamacare and challenging Federal jurisdiction over intra-state firearms transactions. One state starts the ball rolling and others follow. Whether you agree with Arizona's immigration law or not, the fact that several other states are following the same path is really a morale booster for Arizona AND undermines the Federal position.

There is the potential for a real snowball effect when multiple states start challenging Federal power. The Federal government can't fight us all! But somebody must start the ball rolling at the state level.

Yeah I'm open to other avenues... not sure myself

You make a point, I hope people step up and prove it wrong. I am not going anywhere I know there are people ready to push in here. The time to push is now, there is only 1 2010, this opportunity presents itself, and what we do with it has meaning.

I will also say this, forget about the damn money. It's meaningless, if all you have is $5 to throw in or whatever, it doesn't matter, but it will in the end. Those who are broke who throw in $5 has more meaning than those who are more well off and throw in $250.

We have this crappy money right now, that we all know will soon be useless, yet it still has use to get our people in. Glen running for office is not something any of us can relate to, he is in the wilderness trying to find his path right now. Yet he is working and fighting to get there. That is damn respectable. He fights and works for our message and what we believe in, so $5, $17.76 or whatever the monoply amount is, shows we got his back and support him.

BUMP for a damn fine post!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: with 600-700 member visits per day, there's NO REASON we should have any trouble helping to raise a big chunk of the funds needed to help put Glen into office. If just HALF of an average day's visiting members could kick in a lousy five bucks, we would have reached the most immediate goal in a single day.

I'm disappointed with the response to this thread, but worse, I'm beginning to be worried about how viable a force we of RPF are actually going to be in the next couple of elections.

LOL eventually. the "rough sketch" in my 10-year 'restore the Constitution plan' calls for 4 years State House, 4 years US House, 6 years US Senate, then back to my real life where I can (after 14 years of delay :( ) get back to the stuff that interests me -- home automation and 3D computer operating systems.

Many on the forum do not know me but I learn a lot from you all. My biggest teacher is Glen Bradley. For many years, he has enlightened me. I have always voted but never got involved. Since 2007, when Glen started campaigning for Ron Paul, that turned me around. I became my county's C4L coordinator and the chairman for my county's GOP. I am following Ron Paul's lessons on getting involved and making a change for the ground up. Who gave me the pointers? Glen Bradley, who else. He can make a difference and he is making a difference.

There are thousands of people on the forum. We are not asking for your life savings. We are asking for lunch and dinner money, $17.76 a day a week for 3 weeks. If you can't manage that, any amount will do.

If everyone that reads this, hopefully 6000 or more, give just $5.00, Glen can make this money go as far as $70,000 would go.

We are just regular grassroots folks working to bring back the Constitution and the true Republic it stands for.

We the People will only prevail with people like Glen Bradley in office.

I am a little slow and out of the loop on this. I just figured out that GunnyFreedom and Glen Bradley are, in fact, one in the same. Very glad I donated, now. How cool. Go Glen!

OMG so beat - maybe cumulative 8hr sleep in last 5ish days.

Event went well but not the way expected. got out (between pre and post production) 900 handouts on Frederick Douglass with my name on it.

People just didn't show. The only loss was on the money for the banquet room, which was not too bad. everything else was pure positive. I am getting a personal endorsement from Lenny McAllister, and Kevin Daniels directed me to seek the endorsement of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, which I will probably get.

We picked up a few stragglers around the event space and really turned them on to the Constitution. I got to conflab in triangle between Lenny and Kevin from 6:30 PM until 3AM and then again from 7AM until 9:30AM.

The materials was no loss, because the reception was through the roof (even if people didn't show) the rooms were no loss because I got 10x the value back from the conference. The food was no loss because it was my contribution to the GOP picnic thing today.

The experience was priceless. I have never (and I mean NEVER) set up an event before, and now I actually know what I am doing and what to expect.

It turns out that both Lenny and Kevin have had the same experience as I did trying to set up such events, so they were not even a little upset.

Turns out to be a pretty big net positive even if there wasn't a direct audience.

More good came from this than I even said but I am so beat.

I am meeting Adam Kokesh in Raleigh tomorrow afternoon, and then on Monday doing a 70 piece signbomb. Then I'll basically rest up until RonPaulHawaii blows into town, and I know from experience in SC 2008 what kind of energy he has, and it's infectious, so from then to November It'll be non-stop dawn past dusk. :D

The reason it's doing this is because if you have no lowercase letters in your post it will turn them all lowercase. If you add just one lowercase letter in somewhere the smileys will show up right.

I didn't want to disappoint you - (hey I'm a contributor, don't shoot the messenger ;) ) but my experience has been that when you invite people to come to an event, about half a percent to maybe 1 percent of the flyers turn into bodies.

So, 900 flyers would be under 10 attendees... (And that's a really local event within a few miles of where they live.) I was crossing my fingers you'd get better response. Glad to hear you made lemonade from the situation.

Seriously, I put about 1200 flyers out once, to invite people to meet a candidate. I got about 6 to 7 people and they were mostly the neighbors I knew, that I had told about it. The sad fact is, that it's hard to get people off their asses!

I know Kokesh hosted a fundraiser for Mike Beitler on Friday, is he planning to do anything for you or BJ?
