6% of what?

I think of Registered Voters, but that number should be higher at the end of the day

I have my fingers crossed, low turnout would be a bump for schiff, but that alone won't push the win, hopefully all the ads and calls made the difference.

I wish Peter would have told the phonebankers to just try to talk to live voters today, as a strategy to reach 10,000 voters. I know some people are doing that.

an intense campaign effort to DRIVE the people to the polls
who have just seen the "groin kick" video would clinch it all
for Peter Schiff if 90% of the possible GOP voters stay home?

I hope there are a lot more people like this guy.

Though he’s never voted in a primary before, Matt Kocian headed to Old Greenwich School around noon to support Tea Party-endorsed Republican Senate candidate Peter Schiff, and Rob Merkle, who is looking to challenge Jim Himes in the 4th Congressional District.

The problem with polling "likely" voters is that they underestimate the number of new supporters for Schiff; young people, independents, and liberals who have been apart of the Tea Party movement.

As of 3 p.m. in Greenwich, 2,041 GOP voters to 1,230 Dems. That's 3,278 out of 22,574 registered Dems and GOPers, or nearly 15 percent

Competing theories for low turnout in D3
August 10, 2010 at 5:27 pm by colingustafson

Slow going over at Western Middle School, where voters have been showing up at a “slow trickle” all day, moderators said.

As of 4:33 p.m., District 3 had seen the fewest people turn out of any district in town, with 85, or just above 9 percent of its 896 registered GOPers and Dems, voting. Town wide, participation was 16 percent, slightly higher than the state wide turnout.

“We had four people come at one time, and we thought the bus came,” joked District 3 Democratic moderator Edward Fox.

Those lonely few at the polling site had different theories as to why things were so slow:

Republican moderator Angela Little said it’s the heat — temperatures have been pushing 90 degrees — that’s keeping would-be voters indoors.

Fox attributed the low turnout to recent changes of venue: In previous years, residents had gone to Hamilton Avenue School to vote, but the polling site was switched to Western during the Ham. Ave.’s reconstruction, he said. Now that the rebuilt elementary school has re-opened, he surmised, perhaps people are going back to the old site when they should still be coming to Western.

Fox added: ”Being a working class community, I think a lot of people maybe prefer to go later.” …

That, and it’s a primary: “There isn’t that much of a turnout anyway,” he said.

Mark Perlman, an intern handing out fliers for Congressman Jim Himes, was optimistic things would pick up later tonight.

“It’s more than we were getting in the morning,” he said around 5 p.m. “I think a lot of people just don’t like to get up early.”

I can speak from experience being at the polling station for part of the day, the turnout is incredibly low. That being said, it's still an uphill challenge considering McMahon will get most of the establishment and blind (meaning they don't know about other candidates) votes.

5 p.m. Danbury Voter Turnout Update
August 10, 2010 at 5:37 pm by Vinti Singh

As of 5 p.m., 23.2 percent (1,487) of the city’s registered Republicans had voted, while 15.4 percent (1,617) Democrats had voted.

“It’s been a relatively slow day,” Republican Registrar of Voters Mary Ann Doran said. “We’re averaging probably less than 20 people an hour. Sometimes, there’s more people from the various campaigns standing outside than people voting inside.”

Some people switched party affiliations in the days leading up to the primary, but “it was not anything outstanding like years ago in the presidential primary, when you would see an onslaught,” Doran said.

The breakdown by ward:
Democrats

First– 285

Second – 240

Third – 257

Fourth – 188

Fifth – 187

Sixth – 225

Seventh – 235
Republicans

First – 279

Second – 219

Third – 301

Fourth – 140

Fifth – 150

Sixth – 167

Seventh – 231
