Oh for crying out loud, the husband did it, not Islam.. not to mention there is equally if not worse stuff that they used to do to people in the Bible.

"...The only way the U.S. can continue to protect them and fight for them is to completely take over their country and kick butt in a big way, but I don't think we want to do that."

Yeah, I don't think we want to do that either. We don't even have the money to do that even if we had any business doing that.

"And 'so called Americans' say we shouldn't get involved in their business!! They NEED our help, ask for it and THAT is what America does!!"

"So-called Americans". Nice. Did I mention that us so-called Americans are broke? I guess some people think wars are free. I guess it probably seems that way when you sit home in your air conditioning while others are dying. I wonder how many of these warmongers will volunteer to go to fight Iran or will they just expect others to go spill their blood?

These people make me sick. Tea party "patriots" my foot.

Didn't our CIA give them the textbooks for radicalizing Islam? From what I know, only certain radical sects still condone these atrocious acts, and we were building them up during the 80s. I realize sharia law may be authoritarian, but this occurance here is whay more complex than "Islam is evil".

I'm so sick of TIME magazine and their bullshit half truths, and the people's predictable respone of "oh, we must do something"...which usually ends up with bombing innocent people.

From U.S., the ABC's of Jihad
Violent Soviet-Era Textbooks Complicate Afghan Education Efforts

By Joe Stephens and David B. Ottaway
Washington Post Staff Writers
Saturday, March 23, 2002; Page A01

In the twilight of the Cold War, the United States spent millions of dollars to supply Afghan schoolchildren with textbooks filled with violent images and militant Islamic teachings, part of covert attempts to spur resistance to the Soviet occupation.

The primers, which were filled with talk of jihad and featured drawings of guns, bullets, soldiers and mines, have served since then as the Afghan school system's core curriculum. Even the Taliban used the American-produced books, though the radical movement scratched out human faces in keeping with its strict fundamentalist code.

As Afghan schools reopen today, the United States is back in the business of providing schoolbooks. But now it is wrestling with the unintended consequences of its successful strategy of stirring Islamic fervor to fight communism. What seemed like a good idea in the context of the Cold War is being criticized by humanitarian workers as a crude tool that steeped a generation in violence.

seems like everytime a hard core 'kill the terrists' type brings up 9-11 inevitably they have family and friends that were lost in the buildings. it's like their go to move to end conversation. when in reality that should be a clarion call for them to wake up and realize the motivation behind it all and seek out the true way to reduce our threat of attack from radicals.

but no.. it's just what they wave to justify creating a whole new generation to get frothed at the mouth over.

It's pretty sick that intelligence agencies (probably more than CIA) control their education system, and for decades. And of course, along with that their media.

Slighlty OT, but this is why, when regime change in Iran is policy of the U.S, you can be sure intelligence agencies are already well entrenched there doing the same sort of stuff.

I am utterly speechless after reading some of that. It almost makes me feel like I'm living in a country filled with barbarians.

How can any sane person say something like that, among other things?

I'm about halfway into the thread, but I'll try to contribute something this afternoon if I have the time. I have a Finnish last name though, complete with an 'ä' in it, so I'll probably just get dismissed as being one of them thar Muslim-loving, Anti-American, liberal Europeans or something.

Check out this gem:

I am having a hard time to even start to comprehend, how one human being can cut off his wife's ears and nose while being held down by her brother -in-law and they call us the infidel..America if you don't want this to happen here in the USA you better wake up our politicians in Whashington want to pass the Shaharia law...The Muslim are about to take over this country therefore we would be subject to there laws!!!!

Just... Wow. I don't know whether to laugh in hysterics, be angry, sad, or disappointed to know that anyone actually believes this.
