Yeah, I think PPA could be a strong ally. Ron Paul is on the record along with Barney Frank going after the people enforcing it.

I agree the PPA would be a good ally...they just don't seem to be doing much.

Maybe we could change that. ;)

I was just in Vegas visiting family over the weekend. I got two yard signs placed and covered their cars with bumper stickers. Go Vegas!

Nice, Paul needs to tack vegas in full force. The time for conservatism and frugality is over. It's time for HQ to get more innovative, creative, and most importantly AGGRESSIVE. Every $1 Paul spends introducing people to his ideas in the next month wil come back as $10 in donations for the Primaries, mark my words.

3. The poker sensation has swept the nation, and thousands of professional players are furious about congress regulating the internet and banning only gaming. Once again, Pual's anti-regulatory stance is a god-send for these people. The Poker Player's Alliance is spearheading the effort to get the law repealed, and if we actively seek their endorsement we could get it. Furthermore, the casino's themselves were planning on opening online poker rooms after witnessing the massive success of the offshore internet poker sites. However, this law threw a wrench in their plans, and I'm sure they'd be happy to see it repealed too.

You want to talk about bundling? Get the poker players and their friends on board and you won't have to worry about fundraising.

To an extent, but many wanted to open online rooms and books. Plus they're just tiny fraction of the people. There are five other compelling reasons for Paull to be in Las vegas during the Democratic debates.

Good point, we're talking about 21 year old kids with, in some cases, more money than they know what to do with. Not many are politically active, but they know how much excessive taxation sucks, and how ridiculous internet regulation is. This is an area that needs to be addressed immediately. Hope to see Paul here in vegas soon spreading the message to the millions of tourists from all over the country!

If not Paul, his supporters in Vegas and Nevada need to go where the Poker Players are, online and off, and promote him and say they'll benefit if they support him.

it's customary to tip a dealer after each hand you win, and the dealer's cycle every 30 minutes. why not pass them a little card with Paul's URL and his "no taxes on tips" stance, when you toke them. A professional player could reach 1000 dealers in a month this way, and word would start to spread like a wildfire.

I checked here: http://www.lasvegastourism.com/las_vegas_trade_shows.htm.
!!!! Look at the numbers:

DATES DRAW Sponsored by
Oct. 30 - Nov. 2 - 130,000 Automotive aftermarket
Jan. 7 - Jan. 10 - 148,000 Consumer Electronic Show
Jan. 22 - Jan. 25 - 85,000 World of Concrete
Jan. 30 - Feb. 1 - 40,000 Surfaces

These are just the top 4 conventions through the end of January. There are many other conventions during this time period drawing in 20,000 - 40,000 visitors.

Organize a 'Walk the Strip for Ron Paul' Day. Include Meetups in Southern Utah, AZ and California. Pick a Saturday on a holiday weekend (Veteran's Day, Saturday after Thanksgiving, week in between Christamas and New Year's) because Vegas is busting at the seams with tourists over the holidays. Other Walks could be scheduled for when the larger conventions are going on.

Then there's the National Rodeo Finals December 6 - 15, 2007.

How about a Ron Paul Winter Meetup in Las Vegas. Ron Paul supporters from around the country spend their holiday in Las Vegas and take to the Strip!

I live in Washington, and I'd love to come down to LV to help; if the Midwest swamped the Iowa straw poll. I think it's plausible for the cash-cow West Coast to help him win NV

I know this could be huge! That doesn't even account for New year's eve when Vegas draws 100,000. The campaing needs to start coordinating some serious volunteer efforts. And Paul should visit the state for a week during the November 15th Democratic debates.

That is one hell of an idea. Send an email to each meetup group and see who would be interested and have them come out for a weekend, do a little campaiging, a little gambling and a little sinning and fly back home happy.

Remember, the caucuses are scheduled for Jan. 19

thanks guys for all the ideas and attention, someone posted a link to this thead on our meetup BB, so our members will be checking this.

just a FYI, we did do two strip RV/car/truck drives this past weekend which were pretty succesful, you can see the pictures on our meetup group:

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/47/

Also, we've had radio and TV ad ideas and trying to collect money for those causes plus a number of other ideas being bantered around, mobile billboards etc.. I'm sure we could use any donations for these causes, check our BB. And certainly any persons wishing to come to Vegas to help would be more than welcome to crash on my couch for however long they wish. :)

Paul has been here once a few months ago for a rally, there is video of it somewhere, maybe pretty soon we can do something even bigger... The campaign is running radio ads here now.

BTW, that straw poll was in Reno, north NV, I think the meetup group up there would have been more involved in that than we were, I actually didn't hear about it until it broke the news. lol

Oh and the phoenix meetup deserves much of the credit for the I15 signs I believe.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Paul needs to be in Vegas during the Dem debate, it'll lock in nevada and gain tons of supporters. Can you start talking to UNLV students to see if they can reserve an auditorium to host him. Also, let's start sending emails to the campaign to secure Paul as a speaker.

well, before we do anything I'd check with Mark (our head) and some of the other Las Vegas meetup group persons to see what's on the schedule with us and the paul campaign schdule and how this might play out. There's a few ways of looking at it, the huge crowd mgiht overshadow the dem debate, or the dem debate might overshadow us, so dunno. Try posting something on our board about it so we can discuss.

Hey Travis. I didn't know you were on here. Anyway folks, here's the bad news:

Sheldon G. Adelson, the chairman and chief executive of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, who ranks sixth on the Forbes Magazine list of the world’s billionaires, is a founding member and contributor of Freedom’s Watch, a conservative group whom leads the argument for continued war in Iraq, as well as military intervention in Iran.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid from Nevada, supported by the casino special interest groups, is pro-amnesty due to the casino interests in low paying manual labor.

The Las Vegas valley has a huge Mormon population, and if you don’t know, mormons vote for their own.

It's going to take more than a few poker players to overcome these "odds".

If you really want to be effective in Nevada get organized, get a bunch to volunteer and hit every casino in town with the tax free tips flier and a some slim jims. http://files.meetup.com/564287/TaxFreeTipsAct.pdf

While you are going into the casinos, stop at the cab stands and hand out a few fliers to the drivers too.

Seriously. Go to each group in the casino that makes tips - poker dealers, cocktail waitresses, blackjack, craps, bartenders, valet parking, etc. Each group has their own break rooms. So you need to find one of each person and give them a flier to post in the break rooms. Give them slim jims or some kind of general Ron Paul flier to keep in their break rooms and ask them to spread the word. Tell them this bill can't pass unless everyone calls in and asks congress to support it.

Do this at every casino. Have you got 100 people there? Go hit the pavement. I just got an email from someone who used to work there and they said that if you hit the town hard, hit all the casinos, you can have a huge impact. But a few signs won't be enough.

And poker players rarely live there. Most of them are tourists. Forget that angle. You need the folks who live off of tips.

Get a list of all casinos. Everyone take one or two and you can blanket the town in one night.

Do this in Reno, Laughlin and Vegas and you have the state covered! It is easy, cheap, but needs some organization. Please use that flier because it has Ron Paul's words on it. If you want to change the bottom, do that, but don't just hand out tiny cards they only hit one person at a time. You need something that they can post next to the phone in the break rooms so all can see. And if you give them slim jims they will stay on the coffee tables so all can see those. I'd hand out one flier plus ten slim jims to each person.

Please NV meetup groups. We need you! Only you can blanket the town like this. That way when you have sign parties and run up and down the strip with Ron Paul signs everyone will know who you are and who he is.

This is so easy and cheap. Largest cost is the slim jims - use the new ones they are much better - but buying those counts as a donation, so it is all good.
