HICKMAN COUNTY, Ky. - U.S. Senate candidate Jack Conway kicked off a campaign tour of western Kentucky today.
Conway visited with people at the Hickman County courthouse.
The Democrat is traveling to 19 western Kentucky counties before making a final stop at the Fancy Farm picnic this Saturday.
Conway said his competitor, Republican Rand Paul, is proposing some new ways that could hinder farmers in the area.
He explained how his plan will help farmers.
"Talking to farmers today, they're very concerned about making certain that we can increase net farming in the long, hot summer, like what we're going to have in 2010," Conway said. "We have programs in place that maintain food supply and maintain stable farms in the future."
The latest numbers from the Courier-Journal Bluegrass Poll shows Paul leading Conway by six points but there might be a margin of error.
Conway said his poll shows both him and Paul neck and neck. "
It looks like the turtle has finally come out from his shell, in Western Kentucky.
