This is a decent article, but they do try to spin it in a way as to say that Amash is still "within reach of [his] rivals", which is sort of a strange way of putting it, being that he is taken the lead in the recent...

Anyway, here are the highlights:

State Rep. Justin Amash has opened a small lead over his two chief rivals in the 3rd Congressional District Republican primary, a Press poll finds.

The Cascade Township Republican is favored by 28 percent, followed by state Sen. Bill Hardiman at 23 percent and former Kent County Commission chairman Steve Heacock at 17 percent, according to the poll by Practical Political Consulting.

“I would say things are marginally in (Amash’s) favor, but it is by no means over,” Ballenger said.

He said a poll he ran in June had Hardiman at 23 percent, Amash at 17 and Heacock at 8, with 47 percent undecided.

“Obviously for Amash, things are moving in the right direction,” he said.

“I don’t believe that kind of negative campaigning is a West Michigan way,” Hardiman said.

Sen. Hardiman was referring to the ads ran by Club for Growth, calling him out on his support for the Michigan Business Tax. Unfortunately for him, negative ads ALWAYS work.

And finally...

Most expected Amash, 30, to run an aggressive campaign marked by his no-compromise stand against tax hikes. But he has surprised many by his ability to make the cash register ring.

His campaign took in $379,000 through July 14, while spending nearly $270,000 with $111,514 in cash on hand. Heacock took in $292,000 and spent $227,000, leaving $65,284 in cash. Hardiman raised $148,000, spent nearly $130,000 and had just $19,000 in cash.

So close to victory for Liberty!

Awesome! This is great news.

When these polls are done they only call landlines, Young people do not have landlines and therefore aren't included in the polls. Young people appear to be supporting Amash over any of the other candidates by a large margin.

Yea I remember that... :(

I was unbelievably dissapointed.

I think it's different now though, back in the 08' election much of the youth was swept up in the "anyone but bush/republican" idea, and then voted for Obama.

I'm going to be calling friends and friends of friends and getting out the vote however I can...I'm acting as if Amash is down by 1% and we need every vote possible. The last thing I want to see is Hardimann winning by a tiny margin.
