If he is in 2nd place when voting takes place, then I would argue it is the republican candidate that insured a dem governor.

if the polls are highly accurate in late october, and very similar to
these ones now, indeed what are the odds the g.o.p guy bows out?

Did the Republican Party put up an unacceptable candidate? They did it to themselves.

There's democracy for you.

YEAH... Thomas Jefferson was SOooooooo Wrong

Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%. In this case 46% of the people may take away the rights of the other majority 54%

In 1992, William Jefferson Clinton was elected President with 43% of the vote: http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/national.php?f=0&year=1992

yes, it is kind of sad that not everyone can be represented.

this wouldn't make it democracy either..

Tancredo would make a hell of a lot better governor than the current scumbag Bill Ritter.

How'd the CP let a pro-war draft-dodger run under 'em?

Guess he might be an OK gov. though.

I wonder what Chuck Baldwin has to say about the Colorado CP and lipsticking Tancredo?

I would of have respect for Tancredo if he protested and opposed the war/drafts, BUT, the selfish self centered, slime, tried all sorts of gimmicks of deferments from being drafted/going to Vietnam. As Jesse Ventura has called them all... Dubya Bush, Dick Chenney, and Tom Tancredo, etc... all ChickenHawks.

Check this bit of Tancredo History... what a frigin hypocrite!

He's a flame throwing supporter of the Iraq War and demagogic opponent of "illegal" immigration (as in Mexican immigration, not white people immigration). As a college student, he also was a rabid enthusiast for our war in Vietnam.
But Tom Tancredo, the congressman who invites guests over to his Colorado mansion to watch John Wayne movies, was given a 1-Y deferment from serving in Vietnam. Why? Because he claims that he was treated for mental illness while in high school.
No, that doesn't stigmatize mental health problems. Lord knows we need to pay more attention to them as a nation and get more coverage for them in our health insurance programs -- and hopefully national health insurance.
But it is a bit too consistent that one of the current bottom tier GOP presidential contenders is just another Chickenhawk. Like Cheney who got multiple deferments that kept him from serving in Vietnam, like Bush who used Daddy's help to get him in the cushy Texas Air National Guard to avoid combat, Tancredo got himself out of the army during a war he supported by declaring that he was mentally ill.
If the story seems all too emblematic of GOP hypocrisy, that is because it is true.
A "Rocky Mountain News" article (http://www.coloradoconfidential.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=420) recounts:
It was reported that in 1970, after Tancredo's student deferments ran out, he appealed his 1-A draft status, which would have put him at the top of the list for draft eligibility during the Vietnam War.
Tancredo said he didn't remember it that way. But he said he was given a 1-Y status, which put him at the bottom of the list, when he reported that he had been treated for mental illness as a teenager.
Tancredo said he was diagnosed with depression when he was 16 or 17 and received medication for five years for panic attacks and bouts of anxiety and depression....
In a radio interview, Tancredo was quoted saying "I did not serve. I could not serve, but I certainly wish that I had that opportunity."
Do you ever get the feeling that these guys -- like Tancredo, Cheney and Bush -- are playing toy soldiers, blowing everything up as a way of overcompensating for their cowardice? Not that we would ask such a question.
And who is Tancredo's campaign manager in his volatile, narcissistic campaign for president? According to a Scripps Howard News Service article (http://www.knoxstudio.com/shns/story.cfm?pk=EARLYBIRD-07-15-05&cat=PP),
"The woman behind Tancredo's flirtation with the 2008 presidential race is Bay Buchanan, treasurer of Ronald Reagan's presidential campaigns and the sister behind conservative commentator Pat Buchanan's presidential runs.
"Tom, to me, is the best grass-roots candidate there is," Buchanan said. "He energizes a real base. He has a cause. He represents an entire movement. The movement is there. The others don't have a movement."
Although he's an over-the-top war advocate with outlandish ideas about "retaliation" (including bombing Mecca), he's become best known for his code word racist campaign against Mexican immigration.

"Right after 9/11, Tom Tancredo was pushing many of the ideas that bona fide white-supremacist groups were pushing," said Mark Potok (http://www.denverpost.com/nationworld/ci_3255494), director of intelligence for the Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama, which monitors hate groups.
That's some movement, Bay, the chickenhawk, racist demagogues who, like your brother, want to lead an army of peasants with pitchforks, as long as Tom doesn't have to actually be in combat, that is. That would be too depressing for him. He just likes to play George Patton, not have to really face bullets. A coward can only handle so much.

I think he'd have trouble getting their nomination for president. But with any other office, especially a state and not federal one, it doesn't surprise me.

He is by no means an ideal constitutionalist. But at the same time, I can totally see him going all 10th amendment all over the place as governor.

this is good news;) what your seeing is the dying of the gop establishment. they are now running to 3rd parties;) trying to co-opt the message and fool the voters;0( not going to happen!) this free for all will benefit the dems until the gop can get its act together!!! this is called growing pains!! the gop establishments favorite word to say right now is TEA;) i expect liberty candidates to WIN in local/state elections;) while gop establishment candidates like maes, mcginnis and tancredo fall by the wayside!!! i highly doubt tancredo can win general. these are only the beginnings of the revolution!! the gop establishment and the powers to be are running scared!! now it is our job to hold them accountable!! I would only vote tancredo as a protest vote against the gop establishment!! I in no way want tancredo to win!!

The only difference between Tancredo and McInnis is that McInnis is less anti-gay and Tancredo has a visceral hatred for Mexicans and the Catholic Church, to which McInnis happens to belong. Tancredo is a fraud.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Tancredo

A former Roman Catholic, Tancredo is now a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.[13] Tancredo is married to Jackie Tancredo. They met at Drake Junior High School as teachers, and married in 1977.[14] They have two children and five grandchildren.

On April 17, 2008, Tancredo alleged that Pope Benedict XVI was encouraging illegal immigration to the USA to boost membership in the Catholic Church. In response to a statement by the Pope at a Mass in Washington, Tancredo stated, "I suspect the pope's immigration comments may have less to do with spreading the gospel than they do about recruiting new members of the church." While Tancredo was raised a Catholic, he now attends Cherry Hills Community Church, an evangelical Christian church.[84][85] In a rebuttal of Tancredo's claim that the Catholic Church "has been losing members rapidly," the USCCB publishes data that records over 150,000 adults being received into the Catholic Church in 2007 through adult baptism and other rites of acceptance.[86]

He's only running because of the Arizona story and is appealing to the basest instincts in the voting populace.

I actually support more liberal immigration policy. The illegal immigrants come in because of our ridiculous cost of labor propagated by unions and big government regulations and the minimum wage. The illegal immigrants come in and undermine it. If we get enough of them, we'll demand the abolition of these laws in favor of the free market.

In the meantime, they help support our economy with cheap labor.
