Cell phone store owner Mostafa Mohammad prefers not to think about what might have happened had he not grabbed at the handgun a robber pointed at his employee at his South Side business.

If you are not going to let your attacker go, consider escorting your attacker outside before shooting them in both legs. No need to make a mess inside your own store that you will have to clean up. :)

Pretty gutsy (perhaps stupid) move. Tough call. The guy might have killed him, might not have. There were others in the store against the wall that could have been shot, and he could have been shot himself. Curious what the conversation was there at the end, and why he didn't have him sit against the wall with the gun on him while he called the cops.

I worked at a Shakey's when I was 17, and a guy pulled a gun on me. It was pointed right at me a foot from my face. It took every ounce of control not to attempt to grab the gun from him. I got my "revenge" by throwing handfuls of 10's and 20's on the floor while only stuffing a few in the bag.

The business owner did the right thing in wrestling the gun away. The thief pointed the gun at the people against the wall. He would have shot them. My only regret is that the owner didn't shoot him while he had him down. He had every right to. Now the thief has a chance to kill some other innocent person/people.

He only did the right thing because he was able to get the gun away before the guy got a shot off. You saw how long it took to get the gun out of his hands. Had he been killed, or the people in the shop been killed because of his actions, it would have been the wrong thing to do.

If he had been shot trying to get the gun away, I'm sure his wife would have thought, "why did you just give him the few hundred dollars in the drawer? Your life wasn't worth it."

It is pure speculation whether he would have shot that gun or not. It may have not been loaded. He might have killed them all, he might have killed none. Having seen enough of these videos on different shows, I know it doesn't always turn out that way. Sometimes the store owner gets shot trying to get the gun away. Sometimes you get killed even when you comply, like the story yesterday about a guy who was stabbed after giving up his wallet and cell phone.

Right/wrong in these cases is a matter of outcome.

This story can't be true because the good guy looks like a Muslim, and they are all terrorists.

Dead wrong here. While we agree the guy is a piece of shit, he was no longer threatening the store owner. Title says "south side" store...I'm assuming Chicago?
He would've probably gotten life imprisonment there for shooting him, not much better in even the most gun friendly states. Shit, I wouldn't be surprised if the store owner was charged with "assault w/ a deadly weapon" in CHicago-stranger things have happened there.

The would be thief was sure acting like he knew the gun was loaded. Your powers of observation are striking.:p

You're right. I bet they just did this for the camera to make a Muslim guy actually look good just so they can deceive us into thinking they're not all terrorists when they actually are.
