Woah, $2 million more cash on hand than John McCain, making Ron Paul rank #4 in cash on hand for Republican candidates

Harry96
10-15-2007, 07:14 PM
I noticed he took in a little more and has a little more on hand than originally rumored, and only raised about $300,000 less than McCain, which is less of a difference than originally rumored.

From what I can see at a quick run-through

Military Donations:
Ron Paul ~33,000
McCain ~22,000
Thompson~20,000

Can't imagine that anyone else listed is close. Just gotta wait for Obama and Clinton numbers.

If any of you live near a military base, you might want to make a special effort to help them get out the vote on primary night. Or voter registration drives in schools, supermarkets. Leaflets/flyers at laundromats/liquor stores/supermarkets. The basic support level there is clearly strong so turnout is key.

I used the donations posted by Paulitician here and the population figures from http://www.enchantedlearning.com/usa/states/population.shtml. Now I see that they are from the year 2000 so they might be a bit off.

Good news that the people in New Hampshire are the most generous! Thank you!!!

It doesn't bother me at all. In fact, it sounds like what we are heading for if we don't get RP into the white house.

We are the Borg (ie the govt) drop your weapons and surrender your freedoms. We will take control you mind and body and add your wealth to our own. You will adapt to service us. Freedom is irrelavent.

Resistant is futile.

I made a graph based on what was donated per day. I only came up with a total of about 2.6 mil though, so I wonder what went wrong.

Any other suggestions for graphs that wish to be seen?

Utah 4th per capita and I think rank 14th cash total.

Not too shabby considering Romney is considered a "sure thing" here.

Hope we can give him an unpleasant surprise in February!

I sorted each state by total contributions. Califronia is first, w00t!

Those donations only add up to $2.6 millions.
What's wrong here?

So my per capita list above, which was based on that data, is also flat out wrong!

Detailed data is only available for contributions >$200. They don't have to report it otherwise. Which means...we have a ton of grass roots support, and our contributors have a lot of potential money left to give.

The info is not accurate (at least the detail isn't). I know of at least two donations exceeding $200 that aren't reported.

Romney led but i'll bet we got just as many or more donors, just not 2,300 a pop from the NH Chamber of Commerce members. Ghouls looks like he is still the king of big money donors. WE NEED TEXAS TO SUPPORT RON. No reason a few million should not come from there. NYNJ is bankrolling Rudy. Looks like they want a police state there. I doubt Texas does.

I like the donor that stated for Employer "NO CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY TO REQUIRE"

Try finding that under Clinton

What areas are you pulling in the military donations from? It is scattered around.

Does someone want to explain:

If this is supposedly a 20-something, internet phenomenon? The other candidates (even Romney) don't come close to this figure.

This may have something to do with the fact that a lot of those retired folks are old enough to remember when this was still a pretty free country. I know my mom who is 75 made her first political contributions EVER to Dr. Paul so this figure makes me think that others are doing the same.

What's up with this:

28. Refunds of Contributions To:
(a) Individuals/Persons Other Than Political Committees 29,500.63 38,525.63

$38,525.63 in REFUNDS?? Now why on earth would anybody ask for their money back and, even if a few did, how the heck could it be THIS much? Another question that comes to my mind is whether the campaign still had to pay credit card fees for the amounts that were refunded....

People who paid too much (>$2300), people who are foreigners, corporations.

Those might be refunds to people who donated over the max. The campaign doesn't have an account set up for the general election so they're refunding people who might have accidentally donated too much.

I'm sure. We paid $100K in credit card fees this quarter, not bad on $5.1 million.

We didn't ask for it back, they made us take it back because they aren't setup to accept General Election funds.

Hey, did anyone happen to notice that Ron got donations from people who listed their employer as CNN, and also Reuters?

Oh yeah... and a member of the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS maxed out ;)

ALSO the Dept. of Education and the Internal Revenue Service.

I mean, WOW. If you can get those people to donate for you.... well... says alot.

No. Haven't since 2002.

The LP is forbidden by its bylaws from endorsing candidates in other parties.

However, it seems to me that most Libertarians are already supporting Dr. Paul.

Classic... It is so clear that the LP will always and forever be a less than 1% party. The few years I was a member (I am ashamed to say) I must of received a letter twice a week asking for money and telling me how the party is growing fast and will be a major player in the 2000 election. That party is run by complete incompetents and really needs to be taken over by rational thinking people. Much like the Dems and the Rep the Libs are run by the extremist that has destroyed any hope of making that party viable.
