I'm not a huge fan of Jersey so I don't pay attention to their politics. I've seen quite a bit on their Governor lately and he seems sharp but, where does he stand on the Liberty issues?

Just curious since I've heard about some POTUS talk around him.

He's pissing off a lot of big-government people who think they're entitled to bloated government budgets, that's about all I know. I don't live in Jersey, so it's not really for me to say how his 'domestic' policies are.

I'd want to look really hard at his foreign policy views before handing him or a good many other Republicans the keys to the military, regardless of how well they do on domestic spending issues.

Jersey is bankrupt and he is making some really tough moves. He is cutting everything and making some enemies along the way. He has one goal: to save New Jersey. I like this guy a lot. He will not run for president.

If you take money from the Gov like these casinos..... you get what you asked for.

I do want to know the foreign policy views.

Although I like him as a governor, I highly doubt that his view on foreign policy would be different from typical republicans.

He should stay as governor.

I appreciate what Christie's done so far, but believe he will veer from his new-found conservatism as soon as the GOP regains power. On most (if not ALL!) issues, he's the same as Bush. He was totally supportive of the last administration and would be happy to put us right back on that path. He has no interest in civil liberties and is not committed to free market principles. Currently, he has held up NJ's medical marijuana law so that corporate interests can be in a better position to take control of the industry from day one!

"At this time, the Department (NJ Department of Health & Senior Services) is not reviewing proposals or receiving documents, nor is the Department meeting with potential vendors, advocacy groups, lobbyists or other interested parties to present business plans, strategies or offers of assistance.*"

Yet Rutgers University, the NJ Council of Teaching Hospitals and perhaps other groups have enjoyed preferred access to propose plans for the future of the cannabis program.

Chris Christie is just like almost all other Republican govenors: conservative. Make some cuts here, make some cuts there, and lower some taxes. But Christie does not have control over an entire country or military. His latest plan to take over Atlantic city could be a clue into what he would be like as president. Centralization in state government = big government in federal government.

His plan is to only take over the "casino district" all other functions of AC will stay with the city. Since AC has a state granted monopoly on casino gaming, this is a somewhat reasonable position.

From what I read I agree. I don't think it's exactly taking over AC. Nonetheless, I think he's done a fantastic job doing what's necessary for NJ. I have no idea what his views outside of making necessary cuts are, which probably wouldn't flatter most of us, but we don't really know. Either way, he's playing a key role in showing that cuts and austerity measures are key. If NJ starts to prosper in relation to other states based on this, it's great publicity for limited government.
