I live downtown Seattle and was standing outside contemplating the fact that I don't see any Ron Paul signs or support visible during regular hours. I was trying to think of what would be a good way to keep his name visible at all hours. Then it hit me: Free Ron Paul printed umbrellas! Seattle is rainy for a good portion of the year, and there are plenty of people who are not adjusted to the rain who are quickly walking to their destinations.

I figure that handing putting up a small stand that says "free umbrella" with 100 umbrellas to give away at Westlake Center during a rainy day might yield us some "free" advertising.

I'm sure this could be applied in other rainy states as well.

What do you all think?

Sounds expensive. Have you looked into the cost?

When ordered in bulk, they cost around $5-7 for a low cost umbrella. Not too much more than a lawn sign which usually runs at $4 each.

I've seen umbrellas for a buck at local dollar stores. Obviously they're kinda cheaply made but will still keep the rain off someone. Of course having something custom printed on them will drive up the cost.

Still, all in all a great idea!

should we start a chip-in? this seems like a great idea. Also slip in a slim jim in the handle.

Wait for a rainy day and hand them out.

We could pull off 1,500 umbrellas for $5,500.

Now the real question is where we can get a good deal on these. Maybe meetup groups in rainy areas might want to get involved? Having hundreds of umbrellas out would definitely get his name out in the open more.
