I entered the beer market on the consumer side not too long ago, currently shifting to production - so these numbers will reverse next quarter.

Didn't Orwell talk about alcohol being freeflowing in 1984 to keep the population complacent?

I just spent 12.50 last night on a "La Fin du Mond" bomber.
Worth every penny.

I don't drink alcohol but I can understand correlation between two.
We're living in a fucked up system/era and people want quick anesthesia to forget just how fucked up everything really is.

Makes sense. Beer is an easy escape. But the worse things get, the more important it is to be lucid and alert.

The guy in the interview is Richard N. Haass, the head of the Council on Foreign Relations. He wants to nuke Iran.

Makes sense. Although, when I drink me and my buddies always discuss the fed, economy war etc. lol I stay away from those subjects while around those who don't appreciate them.

InBev made a hell of an investment it seems. Not really surprising though since anything that allows a person to escape a bad day in a bad economy will be in demand.

An economic purist may point that this is an example of an "inferior good (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inferior_good)", defined as a good whose demand rises when the consumer's income decreases.
Examples are second-hand cars & furniture, disposable goods, fast/cheap food (like spam, potatoes, etc.), canned food, and - yes - drugs and alcohol.

Yeah, Victory Gin in a tin cup. IIRC he didn't specifically tealk about it, the consumption was just prevelant in the book, at least for the inner party. I think the proles drank rot-gut beer.

$12.50 on a double sized beer? I buy La Fin du Mond in four packs for only $9.49.
Try the Trois Pistoles, excellent stuff. I never knew French Canadians made such awesome beer.

Guilty, the way this country is going, it's better than poison sleeping pills for a good night's sleep.

I was out door knocking at the far end of my district. It got dark. I went to a bar just on the other side of the border. La Fin du Mond "The end of the World" It was situational.
That's what I love about the Forums; nothing gets by you guys. (Although it can get kind of annoying sometimes:))
