And what can we do to promote them?

Possible ideas:

1. Positive comparisons to "front runners" in terms of number of donors, number of first time donors, etc.
2. Hopefully RP will receive the most military/veteran donations again, promote this.
3. CASH ON HAND! I hope that RP will be in third place (behind Romney, Giuliani), or second place without the Romney loans.
4. Look for cheating and misinformation in the other candidates numbers (including general election funds, etc.).

Today. We already found out that Rudy spent more than he raised in Q3, and has $11mln left to spend on the primaries. We're really not that far behind in the money race.

The reports will show up here:

Stop this conspiracy BS. Reporting what the FEC requires is not "cheating" (including general election funds). Misinformation my ass.

The number I'm looking for, which is not directly reported but can be figured out, is Cash on hand minus debt!

This waiting till the last minute doesn't look good for the mezzanine boyz.

Here's to hoping for some October Surprises!

Open Secrets is a great site, but a little slow on this. The FEC's the prime source. The 16th is usually the best time to check, so it should all be posted tomorrow.

Cash on hand, as reported by the campaign, was 5.3 mil - no debt

Last quarter, opensecrets.org started publishing preliminary numbers right after the first of the month, as soon as the figures came in. For some reason, this quarter they're not releasing anything early. But we should know everything in about 12 hours.

I'm sure I read someplace that Thompson only has about $7 million on-hand (which probably doesn't include debts.)

Brownback told the KC Star last week that he'll drop out if he doesn't finish in the top four in Iowa, so he apparently has enough money to stay in until then. I'd sure be glad to lose him, Tancredo and Hunter.

Now, I will bet this quarter we are in now, that Ron will get the most donations from Texas. That Lady Liberty keeps moving higher and Texas is the #1 contributor as far as I can see.

Ron gets the most dollars from California, and Los Angeles specifically.

No, the report cash on hand, and separately debt. We'll have to use all of our fingers and toes to find the difference...

Ease up Bradley, I was not implying that there was some sort of conspiracy, only that there is opportunity to shade the numbers. :) I read that Hillary touted her 2Q fundraising numbers, only to amend the filing down later. I also read that some news reports of cash on hand include general election funds, failing to compare apples to apples.

Also, ease up on the "new guy" crap, it sounds elitist. This is the internet, but we are not twelve. I give greater weight to certain posters that have consistently provided insight, but I do not instinctively dismiss "new guys". ;)

Tommy Thompson's numbers are out! $579 on hand and $220K of debt! I wonder if Rudy's going to help him close that out in return for the endorsement.

I'm really interested in number of donors. Does anyone know that yet?

Wouldn't $5,100,000 (fact) divided the $40 average (fact) donation = 127,500 donors apply?

No, it does not take into account many donors, like myself, who have donated multiple times. I donated twice after my wife and I agreed we couldn't do any more. Forgiveness is easier to get than permission. I think I am OK as long as I keep donations to Ron cheaper than a divorce lawyer...

You touched a nerve right after a significant rant. :o Generally, I'm a pretty nice guy who's here a lot to try to help people. The common premise of posts that everyone's out to get us is counter-productive and annoying. Yes, there is no shortage of bad reporting out there, but it's not the filing of the FEC reports that cause it, nor is it an occasion to "shade the numbers" since these are legal documents meticulously reported.

$40 was actually the median, not the mean. Mean = average, so naturally that post was confusing.

Thompson:

Ron should only be about $1.1 million behind Thompson.

Rudy's idea of grassroots:

ADMINISTAFF 1,514,617.68

Rudy's idea of travel.

Tag Aviation 200,000.00

Santa Barbara Executive Jet 18,337.95

Is that a Gulf Stream V, or III?

kylejack
10-15-2007, 02:06 PM
Yeah, Tag is a handler (you may know that, but for everyone else's benefit). A handler meets private jets at the airport and provides them with services (meals, re-fueling, hangar space, etc.). Rudy is living large. Looks like Santa Barbara Executive Jet is as well.
