View Full Version : Using Their Tactics Against Them

Remember how we are always talking about the current administrations method of repeating something so often that eventually it becomes accepted as a fact?

Well, there is something I've thought that all of us believed from day one of the Ron Paul candidacy. Even before I saw such sentiment reflected by other supporters, my first thought was this, "if Ron Paul does not get the Republican nomination, America will be handing the victory to Hillary Clinton, there is no other candidate who can beat Hillary".

For instance:

"We are not going to win against any Democrat if we nominate a pro-war candidate," said Brandon Holmes, a 27-year old Leadership Institute employee who used to support the war. "Ron Paul's going to be on my ballot in November, whether or not I have to write him in."

Taken from Reason Hit & Run article "Mr. Conservative 2.0". (http://reason.com/blog/show/122950.html)

I've started seeing this pop up more and more in editorials and other articles about Ron Paul. Further, I've started seeing more statements that if he doesn't get the nomination, he'll be written in by supporters.

I think this needs to be repeated, often and always. Thoughts? Comments?

These are good comments as well as the "I've never heard of this Ron Paul guy before, but after reading your article and looking into him he I like what I see" (this works well for hit pieces).

Those are some magic words. :)

There was a thread last week, can't find it now, but the subject was the best short statements that could be used to grab attention. "Only Ron Paul can beat Hillary" was one and the other was, "He is the Thomas Jefferson of our day."

I've used the Hillary idea myself, and it works!

Yes indeed, a vote for a pro-war republican is a wasted vote! A wasted vote. A wasted vote. Repeat...wasted vote! Got it?

For everybody who's ever gotten sick of hearing that, it's now time to turn the tables and use it on them.

I have written this several times (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=25096), but it seems to be at the end of a thread's life, so I am repeating it here.

It is critically important to include the "because phrase" before it like this:

Because Ron Paul is the Champion of the Constitution, he is the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton.

The person who hears this thinks, why is he the only one who can beat Hillary? Then they think, oh, it's because he is the Champion of the Constitution. The only logical challenge that someone can come back with is, "What does being the Champion of the Constitution have to do with beating Hillary?" or, "What makes Ron Paul the Champion of the Constitution?"

As you can see, this prevents them from laughing at you and opens up the chance to discuss why Ron Paul is the only one who can beat Hillary. Give it a try on your next conversation; I've had very good results with it.

Very VERY nice indeed, I'll be using this one for sure!

The establishment is pushing Hillary.

The anointed Republican candidates are overtly hawkish so that Hillary will appear to be anti-war in comparison (she's not), or at least be the lesser of 2 evils (there's that ugly phrase again).

The Reps and Dems are together, pushing an Authoritarian, Socialist agenda:

I believe The Plan is that the public will be so angry at the Republicans (Neoconservatives, actually), that they'll elect a Democrat, and think "thank goodness we now have a Democrat". And then, said Democratic president will NOT undo the authoritarian EO's that Bush put in place, and then proceed to get away with, and screw the nation, with more socialist policies.

yeah, Ive heard this so many times, that even when I disagree with it (I think Romney or Giuliani can beat her) I get attacked.

Who was the one who started this? I remember reading several digg articles way back in like march. Not sure if it was AJ, or a gambling website, etc.
