Nice. Yeah, FireDogLake (a highly progressive website) covered the story as well.

Lol they don't know how to react, it's kinda funny/sad.

They want to hate him by gut instinct because he's on Fox (gogogo collectivized thinking), but he's better for their cause than Obama is. What an awkward position.

They are filled with a conflict between their adherence to the false left-right paradigm and someone who they should be ideologically opposed to saying something that makes common sense.

You almost want to jump into the fray and yell "C'mon, C'mon, make the connection, connect the dots, all the presidents are puppets of Corporate/Millitary/Banking interests. You're almost there...just a little further, wake up!"

See how arrogant some of these leftwing pricks are "Right wing finally talking about the rule of law" as the title and then "I agree with everything Napolitano says and I’m glad he’s pitching a book saying it. Welcome to the lonely battle of fighting for the rule of law.

But the time for the right wing to make these arguments was probably 2004, not 2010."

Anyone who gave a damn about it could have looked up his wikipedia page and seen his writings. You know... this is why I don't think Rand Paul should fear the attacks from these left wing hack bloggers. They bitch and moan without caring the least bit about acting on anything they say they care about. If they did it'd take literally seconds to find that the Judge has been saying this stuff for years.

They insult without substance. They snap and bite, not because they feel a natural reaction to, but only because, like Pavlovian dogs, they have been trained and mimic others to do so.

Also, Go-Go Gadget cognitive dissonance!

Another forum member mentioned cognitive dissonance and for everyone to look it up. I didn't know about it so I checked it out on wikipedia... Verrry interesting - and makes perfect sense.

Such psychological phenomena has to explain (mostly) why so many people are too set in ther liberal, neocon, or statist ways to acknowledge simple truths and ideas about liberty. Those who are already open or confused or willing to listen are easy to convert... It's those ppl who've set themselves in their worldview for so long that seem so hard to get through to.

What is the best way, acknowledging cognitive dissonance, to get around that and separate people from their old ways?

Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe the best way is through use o the Socratic method to get them to feel like they discovered/uncovered liberty as truth... But even that is questionable... Perhaps simply appealing to what they already know and feel is right and trying to avoid the disagreement altogether - such as helping them realize that they and the vast majority of people already live their lives an interact directly with others through libertarian principles - and exposing the logical disconnect when it comes to the state? Anyone else?

If anyone knows a way or if we figure out a solid way past this - it could be a powerful tool in our arsenal of debate.

The left/progressive crowd are what you call the Narcissistic Crowd.

It's the Narcissism Epidemic, America in the Age of Entitlement, it's the rise of narcissism across the whole culture, in everything from "I want more education" to "instant gratifications" to "National Health Care".

The ME crowd... incapable of critical thinking and never able to see logically past the ends of their noses to the ramifications/repercussions from their desires and Asphyxiating actions.

They never "Get It".

This kind of behavior is, unfortunately, the rule rather than the exception, today :(

This was also published at the Huffington Post.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/14/andrew-napolitano-fox-con_n_645671.html

The posters there were criticizing the Judge for "finally figuring it out" and saying "where have you been during the Bush years"?

That finally made me register to the site and I posted about 50 replies with youtube videos of the Judge blasting Bush DURING his Presidency. If anyone wants to fan me there, my nickname is austriaco.

Had a friend post this to her facebook. We became friends after some heated discussions on a mutual friend's page. She said she didn't like me at first but then she loved me and befriended me.

I thought this Judge was a big rightwinger...he's definitely a tough New Yorker...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/14/andrew-napolitano-fox-con_n_645671.htmlThen she wrote:

Maybe I was wrong!!!!
and

Napolitano said. "They should have been indicted. They absolutely should have been indicted. For torturing, for spying, for arresting without warrants. I'd like to say they should be indicted for lying but believe it or not, unless you're under oath, lying is not a crime."

We just need to keep plugging away :)

Great work. I read through the comments and I disagree, you must have posted that link about 100 times. :D

The logic there doesn't make much sense though—only those who are interested in revenge instead of defending our rights would find joy in having a "take that!" attitude. Do they not realize they live in the same country? Under the same government? It's like two blood brothers engaging in a "your momma" joke contest. And if all Americans are truly interested in, is using government to take revenge on one another, we're really in a bad situation.

Er, yes, we're in a bad situation.

I think the percentage of angry partisans is at least 60-70%
