This doesn't surprise me at all...but whats even more fucked up, and nobody seems to care is the fact that fisherman are damn sure not the only ones affected by this...

I live in Panama City Beach, and it is wayyyyyy slower here right now than it usually is this time of year. We've been lucky so far and haven't seen hardly any oil...but its a matter of when, not if, it gets here. There's way more jobs on the gulf than fishing...

Don't take this a gospel; maybe someone can expand on some details. But I seem to recall that when Obama demanded BP hand over $20 B to the government for a fund for this purpose, this fund was to be administered by the federal government.

From the BP website :

"...The ICF will be administered by Ken Feinberg. The ICF will adjudicate on all Oil Pollution Act and tort claims excluding all federal and state claims..." http://www.bp.com/genericarticle.do?categoryId=2012968&contentId=7062966

From U.S. Business :

"...Under the agreement, BP will set up an independently operated fund to cover the costs of cleaning up the spill and paying damages to individuals and businesses hurt by the disaster. The fund will be managed by Washington attorney Kenneth Feinberg..." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37736098

Now, Jeffrey Briet, the lawyer representing the fishermen, has said that the payment system he set up with BP required his clients to be paid every 30 days; that process has suddenly changed without warning.

Duh...yah.....the government took over. All prior agreements go out the window.
