Fox News host Glenn Beck is at it again, irritating the Left with his patriotism and love of America's Founding Fathers. Now he plans to share that same sense of American exceptionalism with his fans, through the inception of what he has dubbed Beck University, a series off-air seminars. Beck’s website declares, “Beck University is a unique academic experience bringing together experts in the fields of religion, American history, and economics.”

His university plan had its genesis in Founders’ Fridays on the Glenn Beck Program, which airs daily at 5 p.m. on Fox News. Founders’ Fridays gave Beck and expert historians the opportunity to undo the damage of Progressivism and revisionist history by teaching Americans the true history of our nation, from the words and actions of the Founding Fathers.

During the summer months, called the "Summer of Restoration,” at Beck University, “experts will explore the concepts of Faith, Hope, and Charity and show you how they influence America’s past, her present and most importantly her future.”

Beck has also announced that he does not intend to sugarcoat the less noble moments in American history. He says, “It’s about learning from our past mistakes so we don’t repeat them”.

In the past few months on the Glenn Beck Program, Beck has outlined just how Americans are allowing history to repeat itself. He has compared the presidency of Barack Obama to that of Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt, citing the uncanny similarities. Through knowledge of American history, Beck believes that American voters will stand up and insist that they refuse to repeat the failed past.

In order to enroll in the seminars, or classes, offered by Beck University, interested parties must first register for Glenn Beck’s “Insider Extreme” website. The membership cost for “Insider Extreme” is $9.95 per month or $74.95 for the year. Fees pay for both Beck University and "Insider Extreme" membership and allows subscribers to watch missed episodes of the Glenn Beck program in their entirety and a variety of other videos Beck has made involving American history and today's politics, all worthwhile.

The classes will be taught by three historians. The primary historian is Evangelical minister David Barton, founder of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that “presents America’s forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious, and consitutuional heritage.”

Louisiana State University professor James Stoner, Jr. and former Columbia Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology and Education David L. Buckner are the other two teachers.

Once registered, members will have the opportunity to enroll in classes entitled “Faith,” “Hope,” and “Charity.” “Faith” will be taught by David Barton and focuses on the faith of the Founding Fathers. “Hope,” taught by Buckner, will discuss American economics. According to Beck, it will focus on what is not being told to the American people. “Charity” is taught by Constitution expert James Stoner, who will connect the Constitution to The Federalist Papers and discuss why the United States has remained the most charitable country in the world.

The classes begin at 8 p.m. every Wednesday and run approximately half an hour with time allotted for question-and-answer sessions. They are available on demand the following day as well. Beck University will run until September 1.

In addition to Beck University, the Summer of Restoration includes a large rally in Washington, D.C. called “Restoring Honor”, set to take place on August 28. Beck’s website explains, “Throughout history America has seen many great leaders and noteworthy citizens change her course. It is through their personal virtues and by their example that we are able to live as a free people. On August 28, come celebrate America by honoring our heroes, our heritage and our future.”

Beck will be joined by the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Sarah Palin for this “non-political” event. Its purpose is simply to “pay tribute to America’s service personnel and other upstanding citizens who embody our nation’s founding principles of integrity, truth and honor”. The rally is to be held at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Beck’s efforts might achieve what seems impossible at the moment: restoring American history, patriotism, and a sense of American exceptionalism. The Summer of Restoration should prove to be educational and fun.

Beck is an imperfect messenger of the freedom philosophy. Instead attacking him and in so doing turning off people who are moving in our direction as a result of his efforts, we should seek to utilize this opportunity to bring ever more people, through right reason, to the message of individual liberty, a constitutionally limited federal republic, and a laissez faire economic system.

I'm not sure what any of that has to do with my post. I don't recall attacking Glenn Beck in this thread.

I am going to laugh, when people start coming to Ron Paul, being led to libertarian thought by Glenn Beck....and they will come here, and wonder why we are all a bunch of angry nutcases. Besides, pissing off liberals is more fun than pissing off conservatives.

Sincerely,
