ALEX SNITKER, the first-ever Libertarian on Florida's ballot for the U.S. Senate race, is a Liberty-Candidate, citizen candidate, and a Ron Paul follower. He is up against the establishment Republicrats, who have more money, but not more passion, honor and integrity. In fact, while the "chosen one" of the Republican party is fundraising with people outside of the state, Alex is holding down his day job and spending nights and weekends talking to THE PEOPLE he will represent. He drives his own car, answers his own phone and answers people's questions on facebook.

The Snitker campaign is PURELY grassroots. Won't you please consider a donation today, in celebration of Independence Day, to help us spread the message to the people of Florida, and ultimately to the people of this great U.S.A.

Snitker recently made headlines by speaking out against the Florida Press Association when they excluded him in a candidate forum

It is this kind of fire and conviction that will serve the people in Congress.

Snitker states: "I don’t know how many times I’ve heard people say they’re tired of the politicians and the political class,” he said of his opponents. “I’m a regular person. I can give the people someone they can vote for.”

The Marine Corp veteran said he’s been “yelling at the TV screen for years,” frustrated with the political system. After the birth of his son in 2008, he felt he had a responsibility to get involved and be part of a solution. It started with calls to his senators about implementing the fair tax, but when his calls went unanswered, he decided to step into the race himself. “I realized these guys are never going to change,” he said. “People want to hear the candidates talk and debate the issues, and politicians need to answer to them.”

Snitker said the fair tax, which would replace federal income tax with a consumption tax on retail sales, would bring in money and create jobs by turning the country into “a tax haven.” “We utilize the tax code too much to manipulate behavior,” he said. “This is such a radical idea in that it takes power away from the politicians.”

He’s also a proponent of ending retirement pay for senators and congressmen and establishing term limits. He said the founders envisioned politicians serving their time, making the laws and then going back to work and living by them.

A supporter of the Enumerated Powers Act, which would require that all bills introduced in Congress include a statement setting forth the constitutional authority under which the law would be enacted, Snitker is also the only candidate who has signed the Tenth Amendment Pledge. “I want to go back to what the founders envisioned,” he said. “We’re going to have to look at what the proper goal of the federal government is.”

He said federal intervention into state issues such as marriage and health care is not appropriate. And he added that by taking on powers not specified in the Constitution, the federal government is also taking on additional expenses. He said one of his priorities would be getting a balanced budget amendment passed.

Snitker said he wants to get together with the rest of the candidates to talk about these issues in depth, and he plans to challenge his competitors to one debate per month until the election. He said he’s tired of politicians dodging questions, and he wants the opportunity to give the public a leader who will answer to them.

“I’m up against the biggest guns I could fight, but I welcome the challenge,” he said. “I’m passionate about this, and I’m putting everything on the line. I want to free people from the need of the federal government.”
