Retracted - Washington has stupid elections.

Uh, what the hell kind of poll matches up the incumbent Dem with all of the contenders in the GOP primary at the same time? The methodology employed here seems to be faulty.

i think that's the system in washington. the two who get the most votes go to the general election, no matter which party they are from.

R or I?

Didier is running as a Republican.

The state of Washington has a blanket primary system. All candidates, in every party, are listed on the same primary ballot and the top two voter-getters face each other in the general. Which I believe means theoretically that they can have an all-one-party November general election.

We had two republicans face off in the general election in my district for state senator in 2008.

While it makes it harder for an independent to get past the primaries, if an independent does get past the primaries, their chances in the general are much better than if they had to face both a Dem and a Rep in the general.

It also helps weed out extreme communists, and extreme Neocons if there are many candidates.

Yeah, which basically means the primary is the real election. We have no choice in November other than R or D.

This is why we need to get him tons of money so he can saturate the airwaves in Seattle. If it is a Didier vs. Rossi on an even playing field, Didier would crush. Right now, however, Didier has got a massive uphill fight. If we could get him a million dollars, that would make it a more even fight.

Maybe you're thinking of Mike Lee in Utah?

Washington State wouldn't really be all that bad...if the rest of the state could secede from King County (or just Seattle).

And why the hell can't Dino Rossi just find another hobby like knitting for God sakes!?

Oh and Patty Murray does need to go the way of old Yeller.

I like the WA system; you can vote for who you REALLY want in the primary, on a level playing field; and then vote the lesser of two evils in Nov if you have to.
