Did you know that states don’t have to obey unconstitutional federal legislation forced upon them?

Virginia, Utah, Idaho, and other states are fighting the federal healthcare law. Arizona is protecting its borders. Washington State, Oklahoma, and Tennessee are fighting cap-and-trade legislation. Eight states are standing up for gun rights. Twenty-five states have effectively blocked the 2005 Real ID Act…

How? Through nullification.

When a state ‘nullifies’ a federal law, it is proclaiming that the law in question is void and inoperative, or ‘non-effective,’ within the boundaries of that state; or, in other words, not a law as far as that state is concerned.

Like Thomas Jefferson said, “whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force” and “a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy.”

This is idiotic. Why would they put these things in the middle of election season?

That's 3 Saturdays before one of the biggest elections in the nations' history. What are all of the political activists going to be doing then? Going door to door, putting out yard signs, making phone calls, etc  :mad::mad: :(:(:(

I think you should see it as a welcome retreat from all of those activities in the midst of a busy campaign season. A couple hours spent attending this event would be about as "worthless" as attending a candidate debate or fundraiser....just sayin'.

1 - it's half the day - 6pm

2- it's obvious you have never worked on a serious campaign

3- no one is doubting the worth of this event, just the timing of it. And I'm good friends with Jack Hunter (although he hasn't had his pic taken with me yet heh)

4- Answer this question..... should we be holding a conference, or getting liberty candidates more votes?

Ok, so back when we had the Rally for the Republic, we were all wasting our time because rather than making phone calls and canvassing for candidates like BJ Lawson, Jack Conway, and others, we were "holding a conference."

Let me ask you this - at what point in the political world today are you NOT in an election cycle? You're always detracting from something with an event like this. Should we have had it last winter? Oh NO, we couldn't have done that, Rand was just beginning his surge in the polls and Debra Medina was in the debates, and the Texas primaries were only a few weeks away and we should have ALL been calling for her! This spring? Oh NO, we couldn't have done that, there were primary races all over the country and we would have taken precious time away from all of them!

Perhaps you should consider that these events will be generating press and potentially engaging people who are unfamiliar with the concept of nullification in the midst of an election season.

If you don't want to go, then don't go. Don't have anyone from any campaign you're associated with go, either. Hopefully the 0.2% more of the vote your candidate gets because of those few hours of effort makes the difference.

(I'm ignoring your snide remark about my political background, which was uncalled for.)

Ok, so back when we had the Rally for the Republic, we were all wasting our time because rather than making phone calls and canvassing for candidates like BJ Lawson, Jack Conway, and others, we were "holding a conference."Those candidates did not have an opportunity.

Let me ask you this - at what point in the political world today are you NOT in an election cycle? Well that has truth to of course, but 1-3 months out from election day is crunch time meaning all energies must be focused on victory. 6 months out, 1 year out, even 3 or 4 4 months out isn't as big of a deal and in fact can help to solidify support. However 2 or 3 weeks prior to an election is a bad time for something like this.

Oh NO, we couldn't have done that, there were primary races all over the country and we would have taken precious time away from all of them!I don't believe I said anything like that, but 2010 is an election year which means that things are typically focused on elections. You win people's hearts and minds in off years so that when you want to win their vote it becomes much easier.

Perhaps you should consider that these events will be generating press and potentially engaging people who are unfamiliar with the concept of nullification in the midst of an election season.Maybe. There is a good chance of that if it is well executed, however again what is more productive 2 weeks out from an election, learning about legal theory, or pounding the street to get a liberty candidate elected

If you don't want to go, then don't go. Don't have anyone from any campaign you're associated with go, either. Hopefully the 0.2% more of the vote your candidate gets because of those few hours of effort makes the difference.Well if 100 people who might would attend this thing were instead going door to door or making phone calls reaching thousands of potential voters on a single day prior to the election in a local or state race it wouldn't be .2% -- it would be a lot higher.

(I'm ignoring your snide remark about my political background, which was uncalled for.)Sorry, I'm a bit jumpy lately, I didn't mean to be rude; my apologies if I came across that way. What I said still stands however because anyone who has been involved in a serious campaign knows that the time spent at an event like this is not time well spent this close to the election because it could be better spent winning votes instead.

We have set up a chip in in our area to buy a copy of this book for every member of the state legislature, and it is doing very well. If we raise any extra money we will buy copies for the Utah Federal Delegation, the governor and Lt. governor, and state judges. I think the goal was $2000, and after just a couple days we are already about half way.
