What are the pros and cons of this new agency?

Pro: _________________

Con: more government that has a massive failure rate

Mr. Bromwich, a former inspector general in the Justice Department, referred to the unit as a form of SWAT team that could quickly act on charges against agency officials or the companies they are supposed to regulate.

The MMS has not been called in front of a congressional hearing. They were nanny state on steroids, if you followed the early congressional hearings, you would have caught the jist of any project....

BP 2 MMS: Mother may I use a steel pipe made of this type of steel, tempered to this hardness, this thick and this long, with the forward and back sectioned to this thread measure for so many inches?

MMS 2 BP: Sure

BP 2 MMS: Mother may I pour X amount of cement type S of a composition of XYZ with a density of A into the hole?

MMS 2 BP: Sure

and so on...

MMS is trying to be ignored right now and the issue forgotten by American society. They have become an embarrassment. The transition will likely result in a staff shake up, some people falling on their swords after TSHTF with the next round of hearings in a month in a half? A loss of records in the commotion and some key people being unavailable to testify as they no longer work for the government.

And then we've heard the continual lie about the US Gvmt having no expertise on spill response.... umm....

Might want to look at number 377, in particular....

This new agency will be WORSE than MMS!

Oh - from a prev post:

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=250463

A stupid set of laws, called the Jones Acts, have blocked foreign crews from helping to clean the oil spill.

I think you guys need to start regulating less, and doing less in general. BP is paying a huge price for its incompetence, and deservedly so, but you guys constantly get a free ride. You aren't responsible for anything!

* You're a monopoly
* Everything you do is based on force
* It's almost impossible to fire any of you
* And you constantly use your own failings as an excuse to grab more power

The good news is, the American people are witnessing your failures. And like me, they're letting you know. Your own political survival might depend on more than pleasing rhetoric or promises. You should actually reduce the REAL NUMBER of regulations we have, starting with the Jones Act.

There's nothing common about me :) Those to whom it might be relevant have seen old pictures of me. Those to whom it's incredibly important have seen me recently in the flesh. The rest of you are out of luck :p
