probably not true. without eliminating universal health care, they will resume the spending binge as soon as it looks like they're recovering.

"Perhaps predictably, they are led from the front by the most credit worthy of the lot, Germany. Determined to set an example to more profligate partners, Germany is planning its own programme of cuts, and pretty vicious they look too at a reported €10bn a year until 2016. An equally dramatic reversal of previous tax cutting pledges is planned, to begin from next year onwards. "

Like duh...... too much government, we need cut backs, we've all been saying that for at least the last 20+ years. Those of us with a clue that is.

Yeah... and the Keynesians were bitchin on Bloomberg's 'IN THE LOOP' this morning and of course the socialist spending channels NBC/MSNBC/CNBC/CNN... crying about it.

I don't agree with the way the UK is going about this... it's sorta in the correct direction. Of course the UK is NOT touching the National HealthCare System (NHS). There's a lot of Fraud and waste there.

Speaking as a UK citizen, you ain't wrong about that!!!!

We have the most overbearing government in the developed world and the British people are so institutionalised by big government, they cannot do without it. So it will be a huge shock when we eventually go bust and people have to fend for themselves.

The cuts made by George Osborne in the budget yesterday are a drop in the ocean. It isn't going to solve the root problem which is very simply, we cannot afford the size of government we have here. We certainly cannot afford to be gallivanting around in Afghanistan just as one example!

The whole political system here is ludicrous.

The only thing worse is the wholesale acceptance of big government by the vast majority of the people here.

My american wife is staying here at the moment and she is astounded by the attitude of the people, the sense of 'entitlement' and the presumption that the government will cough up for everything. We have people here earning more money in social security and benefits than I earn as a working man. It's fekkn appalling frankly.

The British ruling class has cleverly contrived the presumption that big government is necessary 'to keep the people safe.' Actually, it's to keep THEM safe, not the people.

There's a town in North England called Middlesborough and the entire city centre is networked to CCTV cameras. If you drop a candy wrapper on the street, a CCTV operative will actually admonish over a loudspeaker, tell you pick it up and put it in the bin. If you don't, they'll despatch some 'Community Support Officers' to come and arrest you. They have a huge control room full of state employees spying on the citizens going about their daily business.

George Orwell would turn in his grave!

There are parts of the UK that are becoming like North Korea.

All to keep you safe of course!

Meanwhile, the country has drowned under bureaucracy and bullshit regulation. There's absolutely no point whatsoever being a small business here, no incentive to be productive at all. The corporations have utterly destroyed the small businesses in the retail sector

Tesco, the food and goods retailer now takes 20% of every pound spent in the retail sector, one single corporation is raking in one fifth of the entire retail market.

Yup! Incredible isn't it?

That's ridiculous.

Do you sense any change of attitude in the prevailing political ideologies? I have never been to England but I've always appreciated English history and traditions, and your country gave us the Magna Carta and the Rights of Man. It's sad.

The British ruling class are the most ingenious, cunning and sly people on the planet.

They have managed to create a soft totalitarian state where the people genuinely believe they are free. This is why modern statism is so successful and working so well in the USA. They have modelled their systems of mind control on the British system.

The British are experts and modelling human behaviour. They have based much of theory on the work of earlier people like Antonio Gramsci.

In the UK, we have the Fabian Society, the Tavistock Institute and the Royal Institure for Foreign Affairs (the British counterpart to the CFR). These societies are devoted to changing human behaviour to accept socialism. They are very bloody good at it! They have A LOT of experience! They have the state media broadcasting company, the BBC, to promote their cause.

You can always tell when these morons are responsible for designing policy because it always comes under the mantra of being 'Progressive'

'Progressive' is the most overused word in British politics.

Destroying civilization is 'Progressive' it seems!

Fucking morons:eek:

Not possible when one is up to his nostrils in debt. The only real solution is repudiation, which will not work on a piecemeal basis, but if 5 or 10 very large economies got together and all told the various bankers to pound salt, solution would be in hand.

Not everyone in the UK is terminally stupid, I see. :)

The whole political system here is ludicrous.

Just as with most of the rest of the world.

The only thing worse is the wholesale acceptance of big government by the vast majority of the people here.

The people of GB are, by and large, conquered. Just as with the rest of Europe, you guys have had the boots of kings on your necks for 2000 years. That sort of thing gives rise to a subservient mindset such that when the king tells you he is going to pop your bride, you just sit back and accept it. It is pretty pathetic. What is sadder still is the tininess of the proportion of people in such places who stand up and say "no" to such criminal behavior.

Don't fool yourselves (I mean all of us): the king is alive and he rules still.

Sounds like you might make a good American. I'd recommend you come here, but you're not a drug slinging Mexican so I am not sure they'd let you in.

The change is like 75% cut 25% revenue increase.
That is still pretty dang good. We need to do something similar.

If I though America was going to do any better, I'd be happier about coming to live in America. Frankly, at the moment, I'm not very optimistic about that.

Unfortunately, a hell of a lot of American people have been infantalized by years of statism, public schooling and media brainwashing just like in the UK.

If the banksters lose control of America, they'll just start WW3 instead. They control the global systems of credit and they have all the aces in the pack for as long as people remain dumb, passive and subservient. They also have the corporations on their side. If the people revolt, they'll just shut down your food and water supply and stop the energy supply. They can and will switch the lights off

Right now, we are thinking of a move down to Ecuador. America is stuffed. You people have been raped of everything already. The bill for it hasn't even arrived on your doorstep yet. It's in the post though. America has been systematically asset stripped over decades right under the noses of the ignorant masses.

I warn you now, there will not be a peaceful resolution to America's problems. It will end in violence. You better pray the US military is on your side when things boil over.
