Carl Bruning, candidate for Larimer County Sheriff, receives endorsement from former Sheriff Richard Mack

Carl Bruning is running as “Your Constitutional Sheriff” in Larimer County. “It is time for the sworn protectors of liberty, the sheriffs of these United States of America, to walk tall and stand up for our Constitution and Bill of Rights,” he declared.

Bruning has received the endorsement from former Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack. Sheriff Mack filed a lawsuit challenging the “Brady bill”, and won a decision at the U.S. Supreme Court on the issue of States' rights. He has written a book titled, “The County Sheriff – America’s Last Hope”, where he states, “The sheriff absolutely has the power and responsibility to defend his citizens.”

Former Sheriff Richard Mack said, "Carl Bruning is a defender of the Constitution and our Bill of Rights. Carl is a distinguished U.S. Air Force pilot commander, and he has the senior executive business experience needed in the Sheriff's Office today. As a former Sheriff, I am proud to endorse Carl Bruning as the next Sheriff of Larimer County, Colorado."

Bruning is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984. He served with distinction as a U.S. Air Force pilot and aircraft commander in Operation Desert Shield, and received an honorable discharge in 1991. Carl then earned a Master of Business Administration degree, and began a second successful career in business. Bruning has held senior executive leadership positions, including General Manager and Vice President.

Bruning has also been endorsed by Colorado State Senator Kevin Lundberg, and the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners PAC. “The Sheriff is a very important elected official, especially to gun owners,” said Dudley Brown, RMGO Executive Director. “If you value your right to keep and bear arms, Carl Bruning is the only choice for Larimer County Sheriff.”

Carl Bruning is on the ballot for the Republican primary on August 10, 2010.

We can spread the word about how much more can be achieved for the liberty movement by having qualified candidates elected as Sheriff. All of these Senate and Congressional races are important, but other battles can be fought for and won at the county level!

The Sheriff Project - USA 1-911 (http://usa1911.com/scm/index)

Fortunately, our system of government gives the power to the County Sheriff to either ignore or enforce Federal law. The President of the United States cannot tell the County Sheriff what to do in his own county. Neither can Congress. Neither can the Supreme Court. The County Sheriff is not the Gestapo of the federal government. Quite the opposite. The County Sheriff is elected by the people - not employed by any branch of the government. He takes an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. Therefore his loyalty is towards protecting freedom.

Ultimately, the County Sheriff is the check to balance any overreaching authority of the federal government. He decides which laws are Constitutional and will be enforced and which laws violate his citizens' rights and will be ignored. And for the choices he makes, he will answer directly to the citizens of his county - not the federal government.
