Loved that, thanks. Whoever threw that party has a cozy little home there..
Carol would make a great First Lady, she's so ....normal. And the spontaneous little thing about the roses was sweet.

Could be because those attending payed a lot of money to have this "private" evening. Having it on Youtube is not exactly private... Just guessing.

I saw it all...no reason for it to be so 'private' - nothing earthshattering or top secret. It was RP talking to a group of people in what looked like someone's New York apartment - maybe 20-30 people, hard to tell...the video wasn't too pro as it got blurry alot, when Carol would be talking, she'd be out of the frame, stuff like that.

He talked about how young people are really taking to the freedom message; how there are meetups in 21 countries so the message must resonate with others who are unhappy with their govts; about gold and silver as legal tender; other reps in Congress being much friendlier to him these days and surprised there are so many of 'us' out there - more than they ever expected! LOL And how one liberal dem congressman wrote him a nice letter about a speech he had written, how the rep was going to steal lots of parts of it, but he wasn't going to vote for RP's bill anyway. How some reps have said they wished they were honest like RP and could vote like he does, but it's too much work and they're afraid if they vote with integrity, they won't get reelected cuz they won't bring pork home to their districts.

He said they are getting many many more interview requests than they ever have and it's because of the money. Someone asked what we can do to change the attitude of the media and how we can help. Carol said keep writing them, tell them what you think about their coverage of RP, and he said just keep doing what we're doing.

It was like being in the living room with a group of folks hearing RP talk about stuff. Fun like that.

In part 4 I think there was a pretty strong hint that Paul will actually make a 3rd party run.

Oh really now?

Why would he be talking about that? Isn't he making a Republican party run right now? Are things going worse than I realize? Why would he say that?

I'm not sure I (want to) believe you.

Do you have quotes or anything? Approximations will suffice.

third parties suck! Don't associate yourselves with that trash

I would say, rather, that the system sucks. Two parties suck!

work inside the party until they throw you out, then go out on your own. Don't associate with the libertarian party, it will KILL you

Oh. Well in that case, yeah. Of course.

I thought just meant what you said. ;) Sorry. :D

Ron Paul supporters who still ask him "will you run in a third party?" let their anxiety get to them far too easily. We need a little more faith in this country. I think it'd go a long way in improving our situations.
Of course, I'm retarded, so what do I know?

Having usually supported Libertarian candidates, I am well aware of the obstacles to ballot access by third parties. Dr. Paul also knows this since he has run as a Libertarian. If he does not get the Republican nomination, it is all over for this presidential cycle for him. If you do not receive the nomination of one of the two major parties, you will not be elected to the presidency. The money and energy needed to mount a third party campaign are just too huge to overcome. Even Perot with all of his money could not do it. If we want Dr. Paul to be elected, it is crucial he win the party's nomination. You are wasting your time speculating about a third party run. Mrs. Paul's statements, I believe, were directed toward his performance in winning the Republican nomination. She has great faith. Don't jump on her.

kylejack

Perot did overcome the obstacles. I'm confident he would have been elected if not for the dropping out of the race twice.

CMoore
10-14-2007, 12:10 AM
He also had massive amounts of his own money. While Dr. Paul's fundraising is impressive, it can't compare to the deep pockets of a billionaire.

kylejack
10-14-2007, 12:13 AM
Did you know that Perot was polling first at one point? Incredible what he accomplished.

We need a billionaire running mate who is a friend of Liberty.
Know of any? :) Bill Gates seems to get in trouble because of government regulation, maybe he can run alongside Paul? ha

If Bill Gates were interested, I believe he would simply run himself. Nobody is going to spend his own money getting someone else elected just to be vice president.

It was David who ran for VP.
That and the LP nom will get you 1% The whole point of him being the VP in 1980 was the money. The Kochs had the money back then.

Independent, maybe more. But I'm not sure the Kochs are even on our side these days.

They abandoned the party because the party turned its back on them.
