View Full Version : Is Joe Lieberman the most dangerous senator with respect to freedom?

Lately everytime I turn around Joe Lieberman has sponsored some anti-freedom measure. He co-sponsored cap and trade. He co-sponsored a bill to strip people of citizenship if the belong to an organization the secretary of state deems "terrorist". He's the main force in the senate behind a scheme to adopt the communist Chinese model of internet usage. He occupies the dangerous "mushy middle" ground in politics. "Progressives" tolerate him because he (sometimes) supports their socialist agenda. Neocons like him because of his unbridled support for endless war. I know he's not up for re-election and maybe that's why he's so out of control. And maybe someone else is worse, but he's got to be in the top 5.

Possibly, he is the worst of the Ds and the Rs rolled into one.

I am not a paleo but even I get pissed off that he is FOR every thing that undermines the christian origins of the country, he's pro abortion pro illegal immigration, pro gay marriage etc, yet he is FOR all other measures of state power. He even ventures into bannign violent video games and harassing Howard Stern types from time to time. I'm sure he is a perfectly nice guy but even communists are like "he is TOO into marx"

I have no idea what your concern is with uncle Joe. He is the best representative Israel has ever had in our congress.

I have a special (dead)spot in my heart for Chuck Schumer but Lieberman appeals to government worshipers from both parties.

Definitely top five, as he is a very slick communicator and he just seems like he's such a no-nonsense guy until you peel back what he stands for. Plus, he's awfully cozy with Republicans, making him even more dangerous.

He is worse than Lindsay Graham, worse than John McCain, so yes, I think he and Chuck Schumer are the most statist senators.

Schumer and Kerry have got to be 1 and 1a. Leiberman is #2.

Schumer is close 2nd, and might be more dangerous than Lieberman because he could be majority/minority leader

Carly "let's regulate the internet" Fiorina might give him some competition if she gets elected.

Gosh...I thought we had 80, 90 or more Senators who are dangerous with respect to freedom. It is hard to narrow it down to one. I would druther focus on the terrible pattern we have of selecting Senators rather than single out one of them.
