Check out the "American History" series on C-SPAN. The shows about Watergate. In particular, the last one at the law school in MN. Nixon's former deputy council tells the story of how Elvis met Nixon and talked him out of a badge from the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs - it's a RIOT!
This clip about FOIA is good too. Most of the second half is about the Elvis / Nixon meeting.

Elvis Was A Narc By: Pinkard & Bowden
(Prologue)
This is the city: Memphis, Tennessee.
The year: 1970.
The time: 10:18 pm.
My partner and I had just received a call.
We did, didn't we? (We did what?)
We did get a call. (Yeah, there was a call.)
The time now had gotten up to almost 10:19.
(What about the call?)
It was Jack Anderson, the famous columnist. The news
flash had just come in.
He thought we oughtta know. (Oughtta know what?)
In a White House ceremony, President Richard M. Nixon had deputized Elvis as an Agent-at-large for the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
Time: 10:20. (Ten-twenty what?)
A.M.
My partner and I wondered why Jack thought _we_
ought to know.
(The year: 1977. News bulletin: Elvis dies. Suspected cause: drug overdose.)
I can't. (You can't what?)
I can't swallow that. (How could that be? Probably media hype, huh?)
Yeah. Just doesn't sound right to me.
My partner and I were detectives.
We should be able to put two and two together.
...
Who's that comin' through the park
Dressed in rhinestones after dark?
Lookin' way too fat to be a cop
Keepin' Memphis clean
From his long black limousine
Fightin' crime with fast karate chops
Oh, now Elvis was a narc
In rhinestones after dark
He did his best to keep Memphis drug-free
He knew every pill he'd eat
Would be one less on the street
Elvis took 'em all for you and me
Now I still can't believe
That The King would have OD'd
He couldn't have done the drugs they say he did
And even though he's DOA
I still hear people say
That he's got 'em all out at Graceland, somewhere hid
Oh-whoa-whoa
Elvis was a narc
In rhinestones after dark
He did his best to keep Memphis drug-free
He knew every pill he'd eat
Would be one less on the street
Elvis took 'em all for you and me
