Remember when people said that laws imposed on businesses were for the greater good, and that's why owners couldn't be trusted to install their own policies?

Yeah.

Here we are.

Are you happy now?

You can't have ladies' night because the pricing is unfair, etc.. Give me a damned break, seriously. Hey, Government! Those bars also discriminate against the underaged. If you're going to be such a champion for equality, please start admitting at least those over 18 to go in and drink if they want.

If it is, then it should also be illegal to simply be "Rainin' Men."

Are you happy now?

Yup, I am happy now. It's about damned time anti-discrimination caught up with this atrocious discriminatory practice at public places of business. Next I want to see porn or escort job ads that discriminate against men by only considering women be eliminated. I also want to see all dating services that provide free or discounted services to woman eliminated. While we are at it we can eliminate cocktail waitress or bartender jobs that only advertise for women.

Americans being forced to live under the government rules they advocate for is long overdue.

Please refrain from using the terms "Ladies", "Men", "Women", or "Girl". It is gender inequality you sexist. Also please wait in line to have your genitalia cut off or filled with epoxy. Stop touching each other and go get a marriage license for government approved fornication in a controlled environment.:mad::mad:

Say good-bye to senior citizen discounts and kids-eat-free promotions! hah

More info here: http://www.startribune.com/local/96108304.html

Minnesota has all kinds of stupid alcohol laws. Bars can only be open until 1 am (or is it 2 now... can't remember). Alcohol can only be sold in liquor stores from 10 am to 10 pm, and never on Sundays. The highest alcohol percentage sold in grocery stores or gas stations is 3.2%. The highest proof alcohol you can get is something like 167 (can't get the good Everclear that doubles as a fuel). Of course all bars are non-smoking now. I'm sure there's more.

Yeah, it's stupid. Ladies nights benefit men too. More women go to the bar which means more chances for guys to get laid. ;)

I'm sure complaints were made by drunk guys that wanted to get the same specials as the ladies. Their intention probably wasn't to get ladies' night banned, but to get their drink on cheaper.

No, men are not necessarily benefited in the long run, they are discriminated against through cover charges and at the bar, simply because of their gender (I'm not saying it should be illegal to discriminate on one's own property in such a manner)... Last week in Vegas I took a couple Canadian girls I'd met outside of Caesar's Palace into some club, and they let the two of them in free, but charged me $35.00... now granted, they did manage to smooze our way into a VIP area where we ended up drinking from a massive bottle of champagne... but you get the point. Back in my bouncing/bartending days in Scottsdale, I was adamant that when we were charging a cover, any girl who demonstrated even an atom of entitlement to enter without charge would have to pay full cover.

Funny thing is, Ladies night probably brings in more men than women.

One question, though, since gays were noted earlier in the discussion. How do promotions like this work in a gay bar? Bottoms or Tops night? Catchers and Pitcher's Night?

California has alot of those alcohol laws too. The %cap so grain alcohol is illegal, a midnight cap on selling alcohol in grocery stores, and worst of all, 2am closing on all bars.

I once went to a club in Hong Kong that was so packed with hot Filipino servant girls, when the doormen saw me and my friend coming, they begged us to come in and the $30 cover was waived. Then we danced and made out with lots of chicks. Experiencing how good women have it, really has made me all the more misogynistic.

That sucks. But they are a business after all, and probably have just figured out what makes them the most money. Would you still have wanted to go to the club if it was a total sausagefest? If a club is charging $5 per person (both men and women) to get in and there is another club where ladies get in free and men have to pay $10, more women will probably be at the second place. So more men who want to pick up women will go there too. The club makes more money, everyone benefits!

I am not quite certain why you have such a better understanding of this than some of the guys here.. but whatevs  (not that you shouldn't have the understanding, it's a pretty simple concept, but it's a concept that comes inherently understood by most guys)

True, unless you had already sealed the deal for the ultimate festivities of the evening out in front of Caesar's Palace and were merely trying to go hang out and have a good time until 2 or 3... :)

Since MN is on an equality roll maybe they will consider putting some dating statues on the books. All dating expenses before union should be a 50/50 split subject to criminal penalties.

I've always been more of a fan of whoever does the asking should either pay, or bring up the subject of splitting the bill ahead of time. The notion that guys or gals are going to have enough money on the spur of the moment to cover 50/50 is silly. The idea is that the person asking wants the pleasure of your company, with no need for you to pay for things while you're there.

I do a lot of asking. I do a lot of paying. I wouldn't have it any other way.

According the laws of government equality I guess people ought not date if they can't pay half or they might get a ticket. :)

When they banned Ladies Nights in Colorado some bars tried "Skirt Night". Drink specials for anybody wearing a skirt- man or woman. Some guys did go in in skirts but it died off fairly quickly.

Question- do they still have any "Hump Day" (Wednesday) promotions? Or was that determined to be discriminatory to people with good posture?
