Do what I did, and ask your hair stylist if they have to pay taxes on their tips. When they say, "Yes.", and bitch about it for a little bit, tell them you just heard of a guy that is running for president that wrote a bill to end taxes on tips.

She's gonna tell her husband now. ;)

I talked to my barber about Ron Paul too! I silently rolled my eyes as he sang the praises of Oliver North and Jesse Helmes (Helmes being quite possibly the biggest reason I'm ashamed to identify myself as a North Carolinian on the web and in other regions of the country), but I think I might have sold him on RP by finding common ground on illegal immigration and frustration with the war.

Ron Paul card + 50% tip = SUCCESS!!! :D :D :D

Or his wife.

She's gonna tell her husband's wife? Isn't that who she is? Or are we talking about one of Romney's relatives?

I was making the point that there are plenty of barbers and male hair stylists.

I just got a haircut two hours ago and made a remark about the good old days when a supercut used to cost $11 which lead to a 15 minute discussion about the falling dollar. I was surprised by how much the hair stylist knew about the subject, yet she had never heard of Ron Paul. She said she only watched the democratic debates. So I got her interest ed and gave her the website and told her about him. She promised she would check out his website and the you tube videos.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to end with "ask them to cut Ron Paul 2008 in your hair with the clippers"

Your idea is much better. I should have done this last week when I got mine cut. Oh well, next time.

My Barber was a VERY hot Girl in Fort Worth when I went there for the Texas Straw poll.

Somehow we got on the conversation about the Federal Reserve, Inflation, gold and silver. Department of Education, how the Nazi's had something similar and they were teaching the children there how the world needed to be rid of the jews. ECT..

Somehow we got on the subject of 9/11, she said she thought it was an inside job.

I said well yeah, i do to. then we went on talking about diffent things that proves 9/11 was an inside job.

So then I asked her who she was supporting for President, she said RUDY!! I Almost PEuwKED!!!!!
I SAID WHAT??? and you think 9/11 was an inside job??

HIS RED HANDS ARE ALL OVER THAT!!!

I told her everything I knew, and she was just sitting there stunned, and I told her, I said now look, unless you want to live in a 21st century version of Nazi Germany, you need to Support Ron Paul. Then I told her all about him.

Anyway, I left there, she gave me her number, ect.... and she said to keep in touch. Well I sent her an email with more info about Ron Paul, but that was about it.

If only I had lived in Fort Worth, I might have actually got to take her out to Dinner, she was a VERY nice woman.

P.S.
She really gave me one heck of a nice scalp massage during my shampoo

Thanks for the idea. The guy who cuts my hair owns the shop and rents chairs out so I'm sure I can get him and his co-workers on board with the tip of my hat. If that goes well I might feel compelled to target the other 11 barber shops on the same road. I guess I need to contact my meetup.

haha. this is an awesome thread. i got my hair cut yesterday, and said the same thing about the tips. then i was like, well let me tell you about a guy running for president. i didnt have to say his name. she was like, "don't even try to tell me about anyone running for president. my mind is already made up." i was kind pissed, cause i figured she say someone like hillary or obama, but nope. she said " i'm voting for ron paul, and you should also." i was stunned. she then went on to give me a little pitch about ron paul. i told her i'd check him out. after i paid, i went out to my car and got her a bumper sticker and brought it back in. she was thrilled, and went out and put it on her car.

Great story twister! I've got an anecdote of my own I'd like to share. My usual barber is out of town so I had to go to this new place. I got there and the girl gave me my haircut. When I went to give her the tip I said, "Hey! I probably shouldn't even give this to you because you didn't do a very good job, but you don't get paid that much and the taxes on your wages and tips probably eat you alive am I right or am I right?" She then slapped me and I left, but not without dropping the Tax Free Tips flyer on the cashier's desk. So I staked out the place until her shift was over about 3 hours later. I then went back inside and lo and behold, the flyer was hanging up on their bulletin board. I then brought more flyers inside and the girls working there said they were going to tell all of their hair cutting friends about Congressman Paul, but that if I ever came back again that they would call the cops. The lesson to be learned from my story is to never give up in the face of adversity. Even if you are physically abused by the people you are trying to spread the message to, just keep putting in the effort and good things are bound to happen!

Bring this with you: http://therobert.org/stuff/rpmq3/TaxFreeTipsFlyer.pdf

they will put it up in the back, bring a few new slim jims so all can get to know him and one haircut can lead to the whole shop learning about him. Tell them they all need to call their congressman to get this to pass and to go to RP's website to learn more about the great man who made this possible.

We can't hit one at a time anymore. We need to hit 30-3000 at once. Anyone here in Connecticut? Can you stop by Foxwoods and hand these out? Remember, the cocktail waitresses and keno dealers and craps dealers all have different break rooms. So, hit each "class" of tip worker in the joint. Should take about 15 -20 fliers a bunch of slim jims and you can get the whole casino in less than an hour.

Vegas folks, can you do this too? Make it a Meetup project? Hit every joint in town. Don't forget the bars and haircutting places too. Stop by a cab stand and hand one out. Ask him to put it up in the break room.

If we really beat the drums with this thing, we can hit a ton of people with very little effort. Giving out cards to one person at a time won't cut it at this point.

Can we make this a nationwide thing? Get all the Meetup groups involved? We need some bodies to make this happen, but we will all need the new slim jims, the old ones are terrible, that will help the campaign with contributions, and we hit tens of thousands of people. We could do it in a weekend if everyone joined in.

Whatcha think?
