Ron Paul responding to questions by Erin Burnett on CNBC about his defense of President Obama and how he would change the way oil companies operate by getting government out of the equation and removing the limitation of liabilities (susano -- this is for you!):

The government institutes a cap of $75 million dollars for liabilities.

Result: Oil companies take greater risks knowing their downside is capped.

Yet again government meddling causes the problems it pretends to be solving.

RP is dead on that the Federal Government screwed this up... that BP should of negotiated with the fishing fleets, resorts, counties, and locals om permits/drilling.

A prefect example parody of how the Federal Government has interfered and turned everything upside down is like the Airline Passenger's Rights bill.

When you're stuck on the Tarmac for an extended period of time (HOURS) by an airline, the government fines the airline $26,000 per passenger.

WTF good is this legislation if the Government gets the $26,000 in money for you suffering on a plane?

This doesn't give restitution to those that suffered because the Federal Government interfered, in the long run government profiteers AND, it jacks up prices the airline will charge their passengers!

I had to chuckle at the tag line running at the bottom.

BREAKING NEWS: Rep. Paul: People should be liable for the harm they cause.

That's hardly breaking news. He's been saying the same things for over 30 years.

I firmly believe that almost every problem we face as a society today is caused by govt interference.

Wow lol

BREAKING NEWS: Rep. StatusQuo: People should not be liable for the harm they cause. It's always someone else's fault! Always! Personal responsibility, you say? That's anachronistic. Now, where's my lawyer.
