Officials are saying he hit his head when he fell from the tasering.
A fleeing man who died after a Harris County sheriff's deputy used a Taser on him during a traffic stop allegedly had slugged the officer.
A deputy stopped the man on Connorvale Lane near Sellers Road on Monday.
The driver did not have any identification and the deputy ordered him to get out of the vehicle, investigators said.
While the man was getting out of the vehicle, he hit the deputy in the chest and tried to run away, detectives said.
Officials said the deputy chased the man and shocked him with a Taser gun.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Christina Garza said the man fell to the ground and struck his head after the Taser gun was used on him.
The man was transported to a hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.
