Legality of video-taping cops

Does anyone here know AZ state laws for video taping cops? Or any other rights we have?

As long as they don't suspect you of being here illegally. Then they can arrest you. Just make sure you don't have brown skin, you should be fine.

If it's out on the public street, then no consent is needed, even in those states. Just stay out of the way or they may arrest you for interfering with an officer.

I have been wanting to go on a ride along actually...I know a couple cops really well (one of them is the one who made national headlines when he got charles barkley on a DUI hahaha)

But no, I just wanted to know what the laws were about video taping. Can you start recording during a confrontation with the police? Stuff like that.

Well I walked into some cops today so I asked them if it was legal to videotape cops and the one guy goes "WHY WOULD YOU WANNA DO THAT???????" lol typical cop response.

Anyway he said it is indeed legal as long as both parties know it's being recorded.

they need to be aware of your recording. Otherwise, they can consider the audio portion of the recording an "illegal wire tap". Go to copblock.org. These guys got busted for doing just that, and got a felony wiretapping charge.
